❄️ Water Update ❄️

Due to recent extreme cold and rapid temperature changes, the ground has shifted, which can stress underground water lines—especially when there wasn’t enough snowfall to insulate the ground before freezing.

Our Water Department has located a leak at Woodland Street and Fifth Street. We are hopeful this is the cause of the low water pressure being experienced on Oakland Street and Woodland Street.

Please be aware that with continued cold temperatures, additional weather-related issues are possible, but our water crew is actively monitoring the system and responding as quickly as issues arise.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Our guys are on it and will keep working until everything is fully resolved.

🚰 Yes, we did locate a water leak — but don’t worry, the Water Department is on it. Located at end of Baker Street and no boil water advisory.

This is a team that knows what they’re doing, works together, and has already seen just about everything Mother Nature can throw at them.

Here’s the Water Department’s formal assessment:

“If Andrew’s soaked and Hoots isn’t worried, we’re good.”

📌 City Hall will be open Thursday and Friday from 9-3. You can call 270-864-5391 for assistance.

🚛 Trash Collection will run as normal Thursday and Fridayorye

❤️ A Message of Thanks & Important Community Updates ❤️

As we move through this winter weather, I want to take a moment to say thank you.

Thank you to our neighbors who are checking on one another, sharing resources, and offering help wherever it’s needed.

Thank you as well to all of the workers and crews across Burkesville and Cumberland County who are out in difficult conditions—clearing roads and debris, responding to calls, restoring services, and helping keep our community safe. What truly carries a community through moments like this is the quiet, steady care people show for one another, and that has been on full display.

Our goal is simple: to make sure everyone feels supported, informed, and know they are not alone.

With that in mind, here are a few important updates:

❄️ Weather & Road Conditions
Icy roads and extreme cold are expected to continue through the night and into the morning. Please limit travel if at all possible and use extra caution if you must be out. Road crews are actively working to treat roads and clear debris as conditions allow.

⚡ Power Outages
Some areas are experiencing power outages. Tri-County Electric crews are working hard to restore power as quickly and safely as possible, and we appreciate their continued efforts during this weather.

🏛️ City Hall
City Hall will be closed tomorrow due to weather conditions.

🗑️ Trash Collection
Trash service will be delayed. Crews will reach as many locations on the route as it is safe to do so, with safety remaining the top priority. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

🍽️ Feed My Sheep Food Distribution
Feed My Sheep will be open tomorrow during normal hours, with food distribution taking place from Burkesville Methodist Church so that no one is exposed to the extreme cold.

🔥 Warming Centers & Centerpoint Church Shelter
Warming centers are open throughout the county, and Centerpoint Church is available as a shelter if needed. Transportation to a warming center or shelter can be arranged for anyone who needs it.

❤️ Wellness Checks & Assistance
Wellness checks are ongoing, and assistance is available for transportation, essential needs, or getting to a warm place.

If you need help, please contact Dispatch (Non-Emergency) at 📞 270-864-4141
Dispatch will connect you with the appropriate assistance.

Please stay safe, stay warm, and continue looking out for one another. Burkesville and Cumberland County are strongest when we take care of each other. ❤️
