Rescue 35 and Engine 30 responded to the area of 162nd and K15 for a single vehicle motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle. The patient was transported in serious condition to a trauma center in Wichita by Winfield Fire/EMS.

Wow!! Great job, Texas!!

Texas A&M Forest Service recently approved $29.3 million in funding for grants to Texas volunteer fire departments through the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program.

The program awarded 531 grants addressing volunteer fire department requests for personal protective equipment, slip-on units, fire and rescue equipment, water tenders, small brush trucks and training aids.

Recognizing Texas volunteer fire department’s critical ongoing needs for vehicles, equipment, safety gear and training, the 89th Texas Legislature appropriated approximately $88 million in funding for the biennium (fiscal years 2026-27)—the most ever allocated—to keep up with annual demand.

6/1/26: Burden Fire units responded west of Burden for a reported motor vehicle collision. One patient was transported by Winfield Fire/EMS in stable condition to a Wichita hospital.

5/29/26: Engine 30 responded to the 500 block of north main for a gas line hit by a utility contractor.

Burden has 3 major utility construction projects happening concurrently for water, wastewater, and fiber optic internet. With multiple crews working in close confines, utility strikes are inevitable.

Flag crew pictures, Memorial Weekend 2026.

We flew an abbreviated display on Saturday due to rain, and were able to do full displays on Sunday and Monday.

We have the honor of placing the flags in the Burden cemetery to commemorate our fallen service members each Memorial Day weekend. Please take a moment to remember those who fought and died for your freedom.

Deployment update, 5/20/26, 1400 hrs. All Burden Fire units have returned to the station. A total of 5 firefighters took Pumper 39, Tanker 34, and Battalion 3 to the Ashland, KS area Monday evening as part of a large Wildland task force made up of units from Cowley and Butler counties.
