The Los Angeles Police Department Basic Motor School is known as one of the most difficult motor schools in the Country.

During the school, students compete in four separate skills competitions. Burbank Police Sergeant French completed the course and placed first in two of these competitions including the “Dirt TT” and “King of the Monster”. Congratulations Sergeant French!

With the first day of school upon us, the Burbank Police Department wishes all students, teachers, and school staff a safe and successful school year!

As students return to classrooms, we’ll see a significant increase in pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicle traffic throughout the city.

Beginning tomorrow and continuing over the next several weeks, Burbank Police Traffic and Patrol officers will have a highly visible presence at schools during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Officers will initially focus on educating drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists before transitioning to enforcement when necessary.

Please do your part:
🚸 Slowdown in school zones.
🛑 Obey crossing guards and traffic officers.
🚶 Watch carefully for students walking and biking.
📵 Put your phone away and stay focused on the road.
🚗 Be patient—expect delays during drop-off and pick-up times.
❌Do not block traffic or bike lanes to unload/load passengers.

Traffic safety around our schools is everyone’s responsibility. Together, we can create a safe, welcoming, and positive start to the new school year for every student, family, and educator.
