πŸ™οΈ No Day Is Ever the Same at the City of Bunnell πŸ‘·β€β™€οΈπŸŒ³πŸš›

From maintaining roads, mowing, mulching, and trimming trees in our parks, to cleaning public facilities and park restrooms, to accepting utility payments, responding to resident calls and concerns, investigating code issues, processing permit requests, keeping records organized, and ensuring essential services continue β€” City employees are working every day to serve our residents and businesses.

Many of the things that keep our community functioning happen quietly behind the scenes. Every inspection, repair, phone call, project, and maintenance task plays an important role in keeping Bunnell safe, clean, and moving forward.

You may not always see everything that goes into making Bunnell a functional and thriving City, but dedicated employees across every department are working each day to keep things running.

Thank you to our City team for the commitment, care, and service you provide to our community. πŸ’™

πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™€οΈπŸš› Can You Spot the Service Issue? πŸš›πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

Our Solid Waste crews sometimes encounter obstacles that can delay or prevent collection service. Take a look at these photos and see if you can identify the issue that could affect pickup!

Providing efficient collection service requires clear access to carts and collection areas. When vehicles, bulk items, landscaping materials, or other obstructions block access, crews are unable to safely service the location.

A few simple steps can help ensure your collection day goes smoothly:
βœ… Direction matters!!! Carts should be placed with the handle and wheels facing the structure. This allows the cart lid to open naturally when emptied rather than damaging the cart or scattering debris in yards or on the street when trying to empty.
βœ… Cart lids should close. Overloaded carts create hazards.
βœ… Place carts with adequate spacing between them (minimum 2 to 3 feet on all sides of each cart placed for pick-up).
βœ… Keep carts away from vehicles, mailboxes, utility poles, and other obstacles.
βœ… Do not block access to the cart. If the truck cannot reach the cart when arriving at the location, it cannot be serviced.
βœ… Place bulk items in the designated area and away from carts.

Did you spot the issues?

πŸ€πŸ”§ Small Project, Big Impact πŸ”§πŸ€

This Spring, our Parks & Facilities team completed the replacement and repair of basketball backboards at EJ Park and JB King Park.

While it may seem like a small maintenance project, improvements like these have a direct impact on the quality, safety, and enjoyment of City recreational facilities.

It's often the smaller projects that make a noticeable difference in the daily experiences of our community. By investing in the upkeep of our parks and recreational amenities, we're helping create spaces where families, friends, and neighbors can gather, play, and connect.

Thank you to our Parks & Facilities staff for their continued dedication to maintaining the places that bring our community together.

πŸŒ³βœ‚οΈ Public Works – May 2026 βœ‚οΈπŸŒ³

During the month of May, the City's Public Works team completed tree trimming and vegetation maintenance in the State Street/US 1 median.

Regular trimming prepares trees for the upcoming storm season by removing dead, damaged, or overgrown limbs that could become hazards during severe weather events.

Maintaining our medians is also an important part of keeping our roadways safe, attractive, and resilient throughout the year.

Thank you to our Public Works team for their continued efforts to enhance safety and maintain our community's infrastructure.

Remembering D-Day – June 6, 1944

Known to history as D-Day, this pivotal operation marked the beginning of the liberation of N**i-occupied Western Europe during World War II. The Normandy landings required extraordinary planning and cooperation among Allied nations, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and many others. Their success helped pave the way for the eventual defeat of N**i Germany.

While often associated with American troops, D-Day was a multinational effort that demonstrated the power of unity in the face of immense challenges. It is a reminder that ordinary people, called upon in an extraordinary moment, displayed remarkable bravery and selflessness in service to a greater cause.

As we reflect on this historic day, we remember those who served, those who sacrificed, and the enduring legacy of freedom they helped secure.

πŸš›Curbside Placement Signals Disposal

The City would like to remind residents that bulk items placed at or near the curb, roadside, or within the public right-of-way may be collected as part of bulk trash removal operations.

As part of maintaining safe and clean neighborhoods, the City is obligated to address items that may:
‼️Create traffic or pedestrian safety concern
‼️Obstruct visibility near roadways
‼️Become windblown debris
‼️Contribute to nuisance conditions
‼️Interfere with drainage or utility access

To help prevent accidental disposal, residents should only place bulk items roadside during the designated collection window for their scheduled pickup service. While the official bulk pickup day for residential customers is Friday, the City’s Solid Waste team may begin checking neighborhoods as early as Thursday. If bulk items are already placed curbside on Thursday, they may be collected at that time.

Important Reminders:
β˜‘οΈBulk pick-up is performed using a claw truck
β˜‘οΈItems must be placed clear of overhead wires and away from mailboxes, vehicles, utility pedestals, trash carts, and other obstructions
☎️If placing mirrors or glass at the curb, please contact Solid Waste at 386-437-7411 for safe placement instructions
πŸ’²Bulk pick-up charges apply and are billed by the cubic yard on your utility bill (1 cubic yard is approximately 3 ft. x 3 ft. x 3 ft.)

Thank you for helping keep our neighborhoods clean and safe.
