Holly Grove Volunteer Fire Department

Holly Grove Volunteer Fire Department Volunteers providing the highest quality fire service 24/7/365! 100% Volunteer! Their main goal was to provide competent fire service to the community.

In 1959, a group of citizens much like you established Holly Grove Volunteer Fire Department. A lot has changed over the years, but that goal still stands. Our volunteers are determined to provide our neighbors with professional, timely and competent fire services at all hours and in all kinds of weather.

High temperatures, dry conditions, gusty winds, and no significant chances for rain results in increased fire chances. The Weather Service advises everybody to exercise caution handling any potential ignition source, including machinery, ci******es, and matches. Be sure to properly discard all smoking materials. Any dry grasses and tree litter that ignite will have the potential to spread quickly.

• High probabilities for a major winter storm this weekend. A Winter Storm Watch is now in effect for the entire area outside of coastal portions of Northeast North Carolina due to increasing confidence in widespread snow, sleet, and freezing rain impacting the area late Saturday through Sunday.
• Everyone should take note and begin to make preparations for a significant snow/icing event. Moderate to major (potentially locally extreme) impacts are looking increasingly likely. In addition, after effects from the storm are likely to last well into next week due to very cold temperatures.

Continuing our annual tradition Captain Anderson and FF Rogers took Tower 4 to Mission BBQ Richmond to fly the flag for their 9/11 ceremony. We are very fortunate to be able to do this annually for them.

On this day, we pause to honor the lives lost, the courage of the first responders who ran toward danger, and the resilience of the families and communities forever changed by September 11, 2001.

Big thanks to our dedicated HGVFD members and a generous community landowner! Today, they installed a new dry hydrant, a vital resource that ensures our apparatus can access every possible water source in our area. This project is a great example of neighbors working together to improve our community's safety.
