VFW Post 4080 Buffalo,Missouri. Our post was chartered on April 19th,1945. The post membership constructed the building, which was completed in 1947. The hard wood flooring of the upper level was salvaged from WWII era Ft. Leonard Wood barracks. The post has been a focal point for local vet
erans and their families. In the past there were weekly dances and bingo games. Recently we’ve held Concerts, Rummage Sales, Car Part Shows, Family Reunions, and Dog Shows. We recently added a pool table to our facility for members and guests. Our Auxiliary disbanded several years ago and we would really like to see it restart. The post is available for rental to the general public and members. We have several community programs that we assist, including the following. We act as a sponsor for the Dallas County Fair’s youth livestock show. We've also donated financial support to the DC Raptors, a local youth soccer group. Almost on a yearly basis the post holds Hunter Education Classes along with the Missouri Department of Conservation. The post donates to OACCAC to help underprivileged children in need of school supplies. We’ve assisted Habitat for Humanity allowing them to use our building for rummage sales and purchasing tools for their use. We annually have an entry into the Veterans Day Parade and have placed first, second or third for the past four years. I know the members always enjoy tossing candy to the waiting crowds. Twice a year post member’s distribute poppies to remind everyone of the sacrifices veterans have made for our country. On Memorial Day the post performs a service for fallen veterans. For the last three years the post has held a firearm raffle, this year is no exception and ticket sales started during the month of May. Monies raised from our raffle and poppy distribution efforts are used to enable us to provide the support for local community programs
The post holds our monthly meetings on the second Thursday of every month at 7 PM, with a pot luck meal starting at 6 PM. We want to encourage all veterans to stop by and visit, please bring a copy of your DD-214 if your interested joining our ranks. The post will pay for a new member’s first year’s dues and at the first of every year all annual member’s names are placed in a hat and one lucky member is drawn for a life membership paid for by the post. Stop by and join our member’s, We’d enjoy hearing about your military service. Updated 4-14-2020
