The Harper County Sheriff's Office is looking for outstanding individuals to be dedicated dispatchers. The ideal candidate is a person who is committed to public service and to help make a positive impact on the community.
As a dispatcher, you will handle emergency and non-emergency calls, operate the 911 and non-emergency system, dispatch law enforcement, fire department, and other emergency service providers to calls for service.
Major Responsibility and Activities
Receive and forward telephone and radio traffic regarding pertinent information
Receive, compose, forward, and route information to appropriate parties
Answer 911 and administration calls.
Other duties associated with the jail.
Requirements
Must be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have a valid driver license
Must pass a background investigation
Must be willing to work mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays
Must be able to use telephone, facsimile, computer, email, and radio
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong attention to detail
Must be able to handle stress effectively without it interfering with performance
Must have excellent verbal communication skills
Must be able to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships
Must possess basic computer skills and be proficient
Must handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality
No felony convictions
No conviction for domestic assault
No conviction for a crime of moral turpitude
Must be a U.S. Citizen or meet eligibly requirements for working in the U.S.
