This week, several Assistant District Attorneys and victim advocates from the Erie County DA’s Office attended a two-day training course on identifying, investigating and prosecuting domestic violence strangulation cases at the Amherst Police Department Community Policing & Training Facility.

The event was sponsored by S.T.R.I.V.E. (Statewide Targeted Reductions in Intimate Partner Violence) Buffalo & Erie County in partnership with the Training Institute on Strangulation Prevention.

The Erie County District Attorney’s Office said farewell to Kevin Brinkworth who retires today after more than seven years of service as a Confidential Criminal Investigator.

Kevin joined our office after a 30-year career in the Buffalo Police Department. During his tenure as an investigator, he provided support to the Major Crimes and Felony Trials bureaus. He most recently was assigned to our office’s Special Victims Unit.

Volunteers from the Erie County DA’s Office helped Mrs. Elizabeth Triggs, None Like You/We Care Outreach and their partners distribute 100 backpacks over the weekend at locations throughout the City of Buffalo.

Last month, our volunteers helped hand out 135 backpacks at None Like You/We Care Outreach’s annual “Christmas in July” event. The organization expects to donate a total of 550 backpacks this season with additional donations made to church and community organizations.

DA Keane attended the B District Community Day event hosted by the Buffalo Police Department at Front Park on Friday afternoon.

Thank you to the City of Buffalo, Board of Block Clubs of Buffalo and Erie County, Buffalo Fire Department, Buffalo Police Athletic League, Teacher's Desk, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, and the many organizations who support this year's event.

District Attorney Mike Keane attended the Puerto Rican and Hispanic Day Parade of WNY.

This annual event celebrates culture, heritage, and community. It is about honoring the generations who have built their lives in Western New York while sharing the traditions, music, food and spirit that make this community such an important part of our region.

Thank you to the event organizers, volunteers and everyone who contributed to make this parade a highlight of the summer season.

Today, we said farewell to MacCaelin Sedita on his last day at the Erie County DA's Office. Mac joined our office as an Assistant District Attorney in September 2025. He was most recently assigned to the Felony Trials Bureau.

DA Mike Keane was joined by Deputy DA Gene Partridge, Sheriff John Garcia and members of the Erie County Sheriff's Office to announce the indictments of Chico Garcia and Skyler Gill.

Garcia and Gill have each been indicted on one count of Murder in the Second Degree. The defendants are accused of acting in concert with one another to intentionally cause of the death of Antonio Pizarro, 27, while incarcerated at the Erie County Holding Center. Both defendants were held without bail.
