Residents of every neighborhood in every community are risking the theft of their vehicle if they leave it unlocked with the keys in it. Remember, when you get home at the end of the day:

1️⃣Remove valuables from your vehicle
2️⃣Lock it up
3️⃣Bring the keys inside the house

Thirty-nine police officers graduated from the Erie County Law Enforcement Training Academy yesterday. Each of them are embarking on a new career, knowing the risks that it carries. They accept that risk to serve their communities.

But no law enforcement officer deserves to be met with bullets while doing their job. Violent acts like the one that occurred Monday in Buffalo must stop. Thank God this shield saved a Deputy U.S. Marshal's life.

A 30-year-old Rochester man was charged with assault on a federal law enforcement officer after a shootout with a U.S. Marshals task force at a Buffalo home on Monday.

Today, Sergeant Simon Biegasiewicz of the ECSO Traffic Bureau joined AAA Western and Central New York to speak with WIVB about motorcycle safety awareness. This is a shared responsibility between motorcyclists and drivers.

Riders are reminded to make themselves visible with bright clothing and reflective materials. Follow the speed limit. Always wear a DOT-compliant helmet, and never mix alcohol and motorcycles.

Drivers should give motorcyclists a full lane and keep a safe following distance. Check mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes. Always remember: look twice, save a life.
