On this day in Erie County history, President William McKinley died in Buffalo on September 14, 1901, after being shot eight days earlier at the Pan-American Exposition.
Today, Erie County joined with the City of Buffalo and the Erie County Historical Commission for a wreath-laying ceremony at the McKinley Monument outside Buffalo City Hall.
