Buffalo and Erie County Women's History March is Women's History Month in Erie County! The theme for 2015 is "Weaving the Stories of Women's Lives".

The Women’s History Month Calendar for Erie County is back for a sixth straigh year in March 2015! The Erie County Commission on the Status of Women and the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library are collaborating again to showcase, celebrate and educate the community on Women’s History Month activities locally. This year’s local Women’s History Month celebration will include:
• Thursday, March 5: K

ickoff event 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the downtown Library – showcase of non-profits and their services supporting women in our community (table reservations: Anne at 858-8050 or [email protected]). Public Ceremony at noon.
•Erie County Facebook listings: Activities going on locally will be featured and 2015 National Women's History Project Honorees for "Weaving the Stories of Women's Lives"

The Women’s History Month Calendar of Events is back for a 7th year in March 2016! The Erie County CSW and the Buffalo Public Library are celebrating and educating the community with Women’s History Month activities locally. Want to help? You can: *Submit a request to be in our county-wide Calendar *Reserve a free table to promote your organization or services, or *Nominate an outstanding woman that is or has broken new ground in our community. ** Full descriptions and quick-links below- come one, come all!

If you are planning any activities for March 2016 that relate women’s history, current issues or stories, please let us know on the "calendar submission form" by Saturday, February 6, so we can Include your activity in this comprehensive free community events listing! The calendar will be distributed throughout the whole of Erie County and will be posted on the Erie County and the Library websites. It’s easier than ever to submit your events! The "calendar submission form" can be filled out on your computer; save it and e-mail it back to [email protected].

This year’s local Women’s History Month celebration will include:

You can also complete a nomination form for the annual “Woman of Courage, Character, and Commitment Award” to recognize extraordinary local women, role models who are adding value and spirit to the women around them and the community as a whole. The nominations deadline is February 1, 2016.

Fabulous news! As of Tuesday, Erie County law now dictates that employers are required to justify pay variations based on reasons other than gender, i.e. education and experience. Furthermore, any employee complaining does NOT have to prove they are being discriminated against. They are also allowed to discuss wages with employers and coworkers without fear of termination as penalties for obstruction are much greater.
