Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate history, culture, and community. We recognize the countless contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans in Buffalo and throughout our nation—from entrepreneurs and educators to artists, workers, activists, and community leaders.

Last night was a whole vibe! ❤️

Masten showed up in GREAT numbers for our Senior Ball, and I couldn’t have been happier to see it. Our Seasoned Citizens came ready to have a good time, and they definitely did! There was plenty of dancing, laughter, good music, and just an overall sense of joy in the room.

Our elders deserve moments like this. They’ve given so much to our families and our community, and it’s important that we create spaces where they can come together, celebrate themselves, enjoy each other, and make new memories.

Masten, y’all showed OUT! 💃🏾🕺🏾
Thank you to everyone who came out and made the night so special. I had an absolute blast celebrating with you!
Until the next one! 🩵

The Masten Stakeholders’ Brunch is back! It was wonderful to reconnect with our community members at the Metro CDC Delavan-Grider Community Center. Neighbors came together to share ideas, connect with one another, and learn from our featured vendors and community partners, who provided valuable information and resources.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and continues to make these gatherings such a meaningful space for connection, collaboration, and community building. We’re always better when we come together!

Twenty-five years ago today, we witnessed one of the darkest days in American history.

In a matter of hours, nearly 3,000 innocent people were murdered in the worst terrorist attack ever committed on US soil. In the years since, thousands of brave first responders and survivors have lost their lives from illnesses tied to toxins released during the attacks.

We remember those lives lost, and think of the loved ones left behind.

We honor the fallen, especially the first responders who sacrificed everything to save others.

And no matter how much time passes, we will never forget.

It was a meaningful day for our community yesterday as we celebrated a major investment in the future of healthcare on Buffalo’s East Side. I was honored to join Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center for the groundbreaking of the expansion of the Broadview Community Outreach and Engagement Center in the Fruit Belt.

Roswell Park is such an important part of our community, providing lifesaving care, education, research, and resources to families throughout Buffalo and Western New York. Expanding that work directly in our neighborhoods will make an even greater difference.

I especially want to recognize Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Senator April N.M. Baskin whose leadership and commitment to securing funding helped make this important expansion possible. It was truly an honor to have the Senate Majority Leader here in Buffalo and to listen to her speak about the importance of investing in our communities and expanding access to care.

Happy Labor Day! 🛠👷🏾‍♀️🏭

Today is about celebrating the workers and union leaders who secured the worker protections so many of us enjoy today.

From minimum wage laws to the 40-hour work week to workplace safety standards, their achievements have saved lives, raised living standards, and allowed countless Americans to lead balanced and fulfilling lives.

Let’s honor and thank the workers who fought for a fair deal, secured these rights, and built this country.

September is a time to have a difficult but necessary conversation – about su***de prevention.

Every year, nearly 50,000 Americans lose their lives at their own hand – each one a tragedy that could have been prevented.

National Su***de Prevention Awareness Month is about reaching those who are struggling and spreading a simple message: you are valued, you should not suffer in silence, and help is out there.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please consider the following resources:

📲 Call or text the 988 Su***de and Crisis Lifeline

📱 Call the 24-hour Crisis Hotline at 716-834-3131
