In close conversations with Depew’s elected officials and Mayor Peterson, the idea for an upgraded dispatch center was brought to my attention.

It was a project that had been on their to-do list for a long time, and it was much needed.

Emergency services have always been one of my top priorities, so I worked to secure $140,000 for this new, state-of-the-art dispatch center in the Village of Depew.

I’m proud to help deliver this important investment for Depew and the community.

For 88 years the General Pulaski Association has marched all over Erie county with people from all walks of life. This was a special year not only because it was their first year marching in the Village of Depew, NY but also because they were marching with 250 heroes. In honor of Americas anniversary people from all over were asked to nominate their hero’s and all were asked to walk together on this beautiful Saturday. I was honored to be apart of these celebrations and be named as a parade grand marshal! I hope to join again next year.

I spent the evening with the Depew Fire Department in the Village of Depew, NY Fireman’s Park remembering the 441 first responders who tragically lost their lives rushing to ground zero to save what lives they could. This was a heroic and selfless act made by 343 firefighters, and 98 other first responders including police, EMT, members of the port authorities, and others. We will never forget their sacrifice.

Twenty-five years have passed since the tragedy that took place on September 11. It is important that we remember all those who lost their lives that day, as well as those who later developed illnesses as a result of their service and support efforts. We will never forget the bravery of those who responded and the unity of our nation that stood tall in the face of horrific adversity.

Today I adjourned in the memory of my friend, Earl “Skip” Gingerich, supervisor of Marilla. My heart goes out to his family, friends and the community of the Town of Marilla. Rest in peace

I am glad the Buffalo News published my Another Voice column on the decision by the County Executive and Visit Buffalo Niagara to cancel the DHS job fair. Fortunately, it was moved to the Coast Guard Buffalo Station where many people applied for positions, with several leaving the job fair with a new career. This decision by Mark Poloncarz was wrong and unfair to the thousands who sought government positions. A link to my column is in the comments.

For nearly a century Alan Kurtzman and his family have been running The Lancaster New York Store on central avenue. Tomorrow will mark the final day of operation and I wanted to personally congratulate Alan on all his success, his retirement, and present him with a proclamation. Best of luck in this next chapter.

Earlier today I attended the ribbon cutting of the Muffin Man Of Buffalo's new location on Transit road in Depew. Len Grusso is an incredible baker and also has such deep connections to our community, the ribbon cutting was incredibly well attended. His new shop is adorned with an incredible mural painted by a young local artist, Bailey Maier, depicting both the rivalry and collaboration between the Lancaster and Depew communities. I am so grateful to be invited and I truly wish this business all the luck I can.
