A well-deserved congratulations to FF/PM Chrencik on his 2025 Firefighter of the Year Award!

FF/PM Chrencik can be summed up as a guy who does nothing halfway. For example, when it is his turn to cook, absolutely every part of the meal is homemade, even noodles. And it’s always on time.

Every day, he strives to be an example of excellence and a leader to the next generation. He sets the bar for what a BGFD firefighter aims for, and the Village is lucky to have him!

Congratulations to our 2025 Buffalo Grove Rotary Firefighter of the Year, Brian Chrencik! 👨‍🚒🏆

Firefighter/Paramedic Chrencik is a five-year veteran of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department and serves as a member of the Hazardous Materials Response Team. He was selected for the Department's top honor for showing tremendous knowledge in the performance of his duties by training his colleagues and serving as a paramedic preceptor.

Administratively, he has spent countless hours working on BGFD's reporting system and provides regular updates on software patches. Firefighter/Paramedic Chrencik performs every duty and task recognizing the value this work will have in the Fire Department and focusing on the service level provided to our residents and visitors.

Congratulations, Firefighter/Paramedic Chrencik on this well-deserved honor! 👏

RIP Brother.

FF Mike Altman of the Chicago Fire Department, assigned to Truck 47, was critically injured today while doing what he always does- putting others first. During a primary search at a structure fire, Mike fell through the floor into a room that was fully on fire. Mike is not only a dedicated firefight

We remember Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin Hauber #282, who tragically lost his life to occupational cancer while serving in the line of duty in 2018.

Kevin is survived by his wife and four daughters, his family - including retired FF/PM Jim Hauber #297 - and the members of Local 3177.

Rest easy Brother, we’ll take it from here.
