BRMS would like to send a huge THANK YOU to our local first responders for all you do each and every day to help keep our students, staff, families, and community safe! πŸš’πŸš‘πŸš“

A special thank you to Newtonville Fire Department, Buena Vista EMS, the New Jersey State Police, and our very own KD Security Officer Mr. Jim, for your continued service and dedication to our community.

We hope you enjoy the box of goodies for your station as a small token of our appreciation! πŸͺπŸ«πŸ’™πŸ’›

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ WE WILL NEVER FORGET β€” SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έβ€οΈπŸ€πŸ’™

Today, the Buena Regional Middle School pauses to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We also recognize the incredible courage and selflessness of the first responders, service members, and everyday heroes who stepped forward to help others during one of our nation’s most difficult days.

May we continue to teach our students the importance of kindness, courage, unity, service, and remembrance.

β€οΈπŸ€πŸ’™ We remember. We honor. We will never forget. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Our 6th grade scientists put their investigation skills to the test during a Murder Mystery Lab! Students rotated through different science stations, examining clues and analyzing evidence to determine what really happened in the case.

At each station, students collected important pieces of evidence and used their observations and scientific knowledge to determine whether the case was truly a murder or the result of improper scientific techniques.

After gathering their evidence, students completed a CER (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning) response. They developed a claim about what they believed happened, supported their claim with specific evidence from the investigation, and explained their reasoning by connecting the evidence back to their claim.

This activity challenged students to think like real scientists and investigators by asking them to observe, question, analyze evidence, and defend their conclusions. Most importantly, students learned that in science, it isn’t enough to simply have an answer; you need evidence and reasoning to explain why your answer makes sense!

Today, students put their teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test in 6th grade science! Working together in groups, they were challenged to build a free-standing tower using only spaghetti, small marshmallows, and tape that could successfully hold a large marshmallow at the top.

Students had to communicate, collaborate, think creatively, and make adjustments when their first ideas didn’t quite work. It was a great way to practice perseverance, teamwork, and engineering skills.
