Today we had the drawing for the donated quilt. The quilt was made by Christine Scott mother of Joel Scott. She had traveled from Colorado for Thanksgiving and we asked her to draw the winning ticket. Fund raised will be utilized for fire department projects. We were able to raise approximately $2250 from this raffle. Thanks to everyone that purchase tickets to support us.

Good morning, cool weather is in the air. You know you are going to need a quilt to stay warm….LOL.

We have plenty of tickets left for purchase, please support your local volunteer fire department. We not only respond to Tazewell community but to all of Marion County.

PS if we don’t sell all of these tickets I might have to purchase them….LOL

The Tazewell VFD Training Officer was proud to assist the Mangolia Manor skills fair, training Magnolia Manor personnel in effective fire extinguisher employment.

Many fire personnel in Marion county are on multiple departments within the county, including our training officer here. T.O. Kesterson was acting as Buena Vista VFD for this event. All Marion county fire departments are proud and eager to partner with the broader community.

CONGRATULATIONS to the newest Marion County Volunteer Suppression firefighters!

These 3 individuals have just completed a rigorous six month training program that was mentally, emotionally, and physically challenging. This program moved them from Support firefighters to Suppression firefighters, which means they are now qualified to fight structure fires. Their training included live fire burns for above grade (upper story), at-grade (ground floor), and below grade (basement) fire attack, as well as fighting vehicle fires, and wildland fires. Please help us in congratulating these individuals on their dedication, perseverence, strength of character and will!

The Tazewell VFD Training Officer would like to thank the Box Springs VFD, Flint Hill VFD, Manchester Fire Dept, and Hamilton Fire Dept for their help and support in completing these training evolutions. Also thanks to those firefighters in Marion County who helped with the training academy - Chris Waller, Angel Rios, Stephen Matthews, Travis Welch, Shaun Raulston, and more. It takes a lot of people to effectively complete a training cycle.

Tazewell VFD is selling chances for a drawing to give away this incredible handmade quilt as a fundraiser.
This quilt was made by Christine Scott, the mother of one of our volunteers. She will be visiting family here on the drawing date, and if the winner is available, she will present the quilt to them. Our department is honored to have this donation to help raise funds for our department.
If the winner is from outside the local area, we will arrange for the prize to be shipped to them.

Your Marion County Firefighters and Suppression Recruits completed many hours of training in June and July 2025, including several sessions on interior search and rescue.

We are very grateful to the Marion County Board of Commissioners and Marion County Emergency Management Agency for the use of the old school on Burkhalter Ave for our training, especially in these hot summer months.
