🚧 DOWNTOWN BUENA VISTA IS MOVING FORWARD! PLEASE SHARE WITH OTHERS!🚧
This week you will notice construction activity downtown, specifically on 4th Avenue. This work represents another important step in our effort to improve, revitalize, and bring new life to the City of Buena Vista.
Phase 1 of our Downtown Development Project is underway!
📅 August 17–31, 2026
💧 Phase 1: Water Line Relocation
📍 4th Avenue from Broad Street to McDuffie Street (in front of Foxhall, Coffee Club Southern Kitchen, Los Aztecas Mexican Restaurant, etc.)
During this phase, there will be temporary changes to traffic flow and parking in the construction area. Our downtown businesses will remain OPEN, and alternative parking spaces will be available.
Phase 2 (Street Resurfacing, Sidewalk Enhancements, etc.) will begin immediately afterwards. Construction plans will be shared at a later date.
I especially encourage everyone to continue supporting our downtown businesses during construction. Stop in. Shop. Eat. Visit. Spend locally. Construction may temporarily change where we park, but it should not stop us from supporting the businesses that serve our community. Patrons can use side streets for parking (i.e., Dr. Rainey Street, McDuffie Street, and other side streets).
We know construction can create inconveniences, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation. These temporary disruptions are part of making long-term improvements to our downtown and our city.
This is about more than streets, sidewalks, and water lines. It is about creating a downtown that attracts people, encourages investment, supports our existing businesses, and provides opportunities for new businesses and activities.
We are building today for a stronger tomorrow.
