We're asking all Georgians to do your part in preventing the spread of wildfires as response teams work around the clock to contain those currently blazing.

📚 KICKING OFF GEORGIA CITIES WEEK WITH "GRIT AND GRACE!" 📚

Yesterday was a GREAT day to be in Pre-K! To kick off Georgia Cities Week, the City of Buena Vista headed over to LKM Primary School for a morning of inspiration, literacy, and community building through our "Reading with a Cop" and "Reading with the Mayor" programs.

​The morning started with a bang as Mayor Brown was first up to read to the students! We were also honored to have Councilor Toni King in attendance, showing her dedicated support for our schools and our youth. Seeing our city leaders take the time to sit down with our youngest citizens set a wonderful tone for the week.

​🏛️ The Dream Team in Action

​Mayor Brown and Chief Williams were thrilled to bring along members of the BVPD "Dream Team" to connect with our future leaders.

​Officer Burden hit the ground running, showing the kids that behind the badge is a heart for the community.

​SRO Lemunyon (Marion County) joined the fun, reinforcing the strong partnership between our local agencies.

​Renee Glass, our dedicated Court Clerk, helped facilitate a morning of learning and smiles.

​The highlight of the morning was Sparky the Fire Dog, who made a grand entrance! Sparky didn’t just bring high-fives; he brought vital educational reading materials to help our kiddos stay safe and smart.

🐰 Easter Smiles at Tri County Headstart! 🐣
​We had a "hopping" good time yesterday! Chief Williams and Municipal Court Clerk Mrs. Renee Glass dropped by Tri County Headstart to spend some quality time with the wonderful kids and staff for Easter Pictures. 📸✨
​There were plenty of smiles, high-fives, and holiday cheer to go around. We love any opportunity to get out into the community and support our youngest citizens and the dedicated educators who pour so much into them every day.

BVPD COMMUNITY UPDATE

🚔 200 VEHICLES, 0 LIVES LOST: SAFETY CHECK SUCCESS!

The BVPD was out in force today for our "Click It or Ticket" initiative! We want to thank the nearly 200 drivers who came through our safety check today. Your cooperation helps keep Buena Vista’s streets safe for everyone.

Big Wins for the Community:

🛡️ Beyond Enforcement: We didn’t just look for violations; we looked for solutions! Thanks to Mrs Tyleesha Wilson Hall and Ms Jaleiah Harmon, Columbus Occupant Safety Project, we were able to give away FREE car seats and booster seats along with expert safety training.

🤝 Strong Partnerships: A huge shoutout to (Officer Bair and her TEAM member with Commercial Vehicle Enforcement for their assistance in making this a smooth and professional operation.

📊 The Results: With only 11 violations out of 200 cars, it’s clear that Buena Vista is a community that values safety.
