On April 25th, 2026, at about 8:47 a.m., Buena Park Officers were dispatched to the area of the 7700 block of San Rafael Drive regarding a robbery. During the robbery, the victim had two gold necklaces, and his Apple AirPods forcibly removed from his person. As a result of the force used by the suspect during the robbery, the victim sustained numerous severe injuries, which required emergency surgery.

The suspect was initially described as an adult Hispanic male wearing a white mask with red markings, a black long-sleeved shirt, and blue jeans. Buena Park Police Detectives identified a suspect vehicle, a white 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, with a black front fender, which was seen fleeing the area of the robbery. Detectives ultimately identified 40-year-old Jesus Alejandro Rocha-Herrera of Pico Rivera as the suspect.

On May 6th, 2026, Rocha-Herrera was apprehended. When detectives searched his home by way of search warrant, they recovered the clothes he had worn during the robbery.

Our investigators believe Rocha-Herrera was possibly involved in other similar crimes in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. If anyone has information regarding this case or Rocha-Herrera, they are encouraged to contact Detective Christiansen at 714-562-3976.

A citizen reported that their electric scooter had been stolen near the Dollar Tree, located at Beach and Orangethorpe. Video of the suspect was obtained and a couple hours later, Patrol Officers saw the suspect riding the scooter in the area of Beach and Auto Center. Expecting the suspect to flee, they requested air support from our Drone First Responder, callsign Raven.

The suspect did flee and while doing so, crashed into a parked car. She picked herself back up and continued scootering away. Little did she know, Raven could easily follow her.

Raven continuously provided ground Officers with her location leading to a swift apprehension. The scooter was recovered and returned to its rightful owner.

The suspect was arrested for vehicle theft, resisting arrest, and hit and run.

Today is Peace Officers Memorial Day, when we remember those that we’ve lost in the line of duty.

For us, we remember Detective Darrel Cate, Corporal Tyler Pinchot, and Detective Daniel Ackerman. We are honored to include Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Shayne York on our memorial, who lost his life in our city.

The sacrifice of these men will never be forgotten.
