It is so hard to believe but I am up for re-election next year and yesterday I officially filed for re-election as the Judge for the 453rd District Court. It has been such a privilege to serve as a district judge and it would be an honor to be re-elected.

I am so honored to have been elected by the citizens of Hays County as your next District Judge for the 453rd District Court.

I want to thank so many people who have been there for me. First, Kara Bishop Buffington and Jeff Barton who ran my campaign and helped me through all the stressful times in a campaign. To all the volunteers who stood at the polls, phone banked and did literature drops for me, the campaign donors and friends who have supported me along the way. Thanks to all the Democratic clubs, Wim Dems, KBAD, San Marcos Area Dems, Dripping Springs Dems, the Tx State College Dems and the Hays County Democratic Party, I am beyond grateful

Finally, to my family my wonderful children Brandon, Chris, Brian, Haley and Kasey, you are my world, my grandkids Kierstyn, Levi, Hudson, Brennan and Maverick, and my daughters in law, Ashley, Brandice and Courtney I love you all so much! My sister Jill who traveled from Indiana to Texas and stayed at the polls with me all day on election day, love you!

And to Bobby Borthwick my late husband, I could never have gotten here without you, I know you are proud of me and always with us!

I am so excited and honored to serve as the first woman elected to the District Court bench in Hays County and I am ready to get to work! THANK YOU!

Why I’m Running

My name is Sherri Tibbe and I'm running for District Judge to bring a new perspective to the judiciary in Hays County.

Currently, there is a backlog of cases that are not getting resolved. Our county needs to focus on new ideas to assure everyone is treated fairly. Many of those accused of a crime remain in jail for months before resolving their cases. Our jail system is overcrowded and the county is spending millions to house those accused in other counties. We need to establish a pre-trial system to release non-violent, low level offenders from jail while the await resolution of their case. We need to focus on mental health issues and those with drug addiction and work to establish programs to reduce repeat offenders.

These are the issues I've been passionate about my entire career -- from my time as young caseworker with Child Protective Services to my work as the Chief of the Travis County Attorney’s domestic violence prosecution team to my eight years as Hays County's elected District Attorney.
