Exciting news for City of Buda utility customers!

As part of the City’s contract renewal with Texas Disposal Systems (TDS), effective October 1, 2026, residents now have the option to request a 96-gallon TDS green waste cart (green lid), for an additional fee. Residents can request bins now by contacting the City’s Utility Billing Department and may receive them as early as September 21.

This enhanced option provides a convenient new way to manage yard waste. Green waste collection is designed for leaves, grass, brush, and other yard trimmings. Reference the TDS Green Waste Guide to see what materials are accepted and what should stay out of your green waste cart.

Please note: This is an optional addition to your green waste service. You may continue to place up to 10 paper lawn bags of leaves or bundles of brush at the curb if you do not pay for the optional bin.

To request your green waste cart, contact the Utility Billing Department:
- Phone: 512-295-8845
- Email: [email protected]

Update on Historic Stagecoach Park Closures 🚧

The contractor for the Effluent Force Main Project is moving more quickly than anticipated through Stagecoach Park. Originally, we had slated a park closure starting on Sept. 21. Because of the pace and in the interest of minimizing the length of the closure, Stagecoach Park and Dog Park will be closed starting on Monday, Sept. 14.

We anticipate the closure to remain in effect for one week and possibly through the weekend of Sept. 19. We will provide updates here and via digital message board at the park entrance. As always, we appreciate your patience as we continue to improve the City's critical infrastructure.

You’ve probably heard the proposed property tax rate mentioned during the City’s budget process. But what does that number actually mean?

For FY 2027, the proposed City of Buda property tax rate is $0.3895 for every $100 of taxable property value.

That rate helps pay for two big things:
🔵 City operations and services - including things like public safety, parks, public works, and other day-to-day City services.
🔵 Debt payments - paying back bonds that help fund major projects and infrastructure.

So, what could that mean for you?

Based on the City’s estimates, the proposed rate would mean an estimated $8.03 more per month in City property taxes for the median property owner.

For some context, Buda has one of the lowest property tax rates in the I-35 corridor.

Another important thing to know: your total property tax bill is not just the City of Buda’s tax. Your bill also includes taxes from other local taxing entities, and the amount you pay depends on your property’s taxable value.

The Buda City Council will hold another public hearing on the budget and tax rate, which is scheduled on September 15 at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
