As part of Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School's celebration of America's 250th birthday, we are proud to share a very special honor—the flag currently flying over our middle school was flown over the United States Capitol.
What a meaningful way to connect our students and community to the history, pride, and spirit of our nation. This flag serves as a powerful symbol of freedom, unity, and the enduring legacy we continue to build together.
Here at B-U Middle School, we are excited to celebrate this milestone in our country’s history while continuing to inspire our students to learn, lead, and make a difference.

Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School has released its fourth quarter honor roll, recognizing students who earned a 3.5–4.0 GPA. The list includes dozens of sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders honored for their academic achievement.

B-UMS Cross Country flex days

B-UMS recently partnered with Buckhannon Academy Elementary School for an unforgettable hands-on learning experience!
Students at BAES used their creativity to design and draw their very own unique creatures. Then, our 7th grade Family and Consumer Science classes with Mrs. Orr took those imaginative drawings and brought them to life—transforming each design into a one-of-a-kind stuffed animal.
Last week, our B-UMS students had the absolute joy of personally delivering these creations to the original designers. Watching the elementary students see their ideas turned into real, tangible creations was truly special!
This project was a wonderful example of creativity, collaboration, and student-centered learning at its best—and most importantly, it was so much fun for everyone involved! Buckhannon Academy Elementary School

Today, B-UMS takes time to pause, reflect, and honor the brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend—it is a reminder of courage, selflessness, and dedication to something greater than oneself.
As a school community, we encourage our students to remember and show gratitude for those who gave their lives so that we can learn, grow, and thrive in freedom. Their legacy lives on in the values we practice every day—respect, responsibility, and safety.

AND THAT’S NOT ALL!!!
Rosanne Siggia-Walker and Tanya Zickefoose have BOTH been selected as the County Teacher of the Year and County Counselor of the Year!
They will now advance to represent our county at the STATE level as they compete for State Teacher and Counselor of the Year honors!!
This is an incredible accomplishment and a true reflection of the dedication, passion, and excellence they bring to our students every single day. We are beyond proud to have them represent B-UMS!

Great celebrations are happening in the county this week! We were honored to have our seniors walk the halls of B-UMS one last time! We also were able to present our school scholarship to Emma Hawkins! Thank you everyone! Remember that scholarship fund is generated from the our Facebook revenue. We were able to provide a scholarship of $269.73!
