What a night for Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School!
We are beyond excited to celebrate two of our very own who were honored at the Champions of Learning Gala for Education in Charleston on September 8, 2026!

Mrs. Siggia-Walker was recognized as Upshur County Teacher of the Year.
Ms. Zickefoose was recognized as Upshur County Counselor of the Year.

These incredible educators exemplify what it means to put students first. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment to helping every child succeed make B-UMS and Upshur County a better place each and every day.
Our students are fortunate to learn from and be supported by such exceptional professionals. Congratulations, Mrs. Siggia-Walker and Ms. Zickefoose. We are so proud of you!

🍎 Our First Full Week of School Is Here!
The school year is officially kicking into full speed, and we are excited for our first full week of learning, growing, and achieving together! Our hallways are filled with energy, enthusiasm, and students who are ready to make this a great year.
As we begin settling into our routines, please take a moment to review the information included in the attached photos.

Important iPad Reminder:Parents/guardians, please be sure to complete the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) as soon as possible. Students cannot be assigned their school iPad until the AUP has been completed. This is an important step in ensuring our students have access to the tools they need for learning.
Thank you for your continued support as we start another amazing year at B-UMS. Together, we will keep our focus on student success, attendance, growth, and creating a safe, positive learning environment for every student.

What a Great Start to the 2026-2027 School Year!
We want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our B-UMS families for helping make the first two days of school a tremendous success! It has been wonderful to see our students back in the building, reconnecting with friends, meeting new teachers, and getting excited about the year ahead.
We are looking forward to an amazing year filled with growth, learning, achievement, and memorable experiences for every student. Our staff is excited and ready to support our students as they work toward reaching their goals.
One thing that has really stood out is our excellent attendance during the first two days of school! Attendance matters, and starting the year with strong attendance helps establish lifelong habits that contribute to success both in school and beyond. Thank you for making school attendance a priority!

School Picture Day Reminder School Picture Day will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026.
Order forms were sent home during Open House. If you do not have an order form, you can still place an order by sending your payment in an envelope with your student's name and the information needed for your order.
Please remember that all students will have their pictures taken, regardless of whether a purchase is made. These photos are used for the school yearbook and student IDs.
Thank you again for your partnership and support. Together, we are looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and growth!

First day of school is here! For those being dropped of at school, here is a graphic to help with parent drop off and pick up. Riding the bus is the recommended way to get to school though. Avoid the traffic and ride the bus.

The backpacks are packed, The outfits laid out, Tomorrow's the day We've all talked about!
New teachers, new classes, New friends and new fun, A brand-new adventure For everyone!
There may be some butterflies, That's perfectly okay, They'll soon turn to excitement As we start our first day!
Just one homework assignment before Thursday arrives:
Go to bed early tonight!
A good night's sleep will help you wake up ready to learn, laugh, grow, and make this school year your best one yet.
