The DAR is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children. Nationally, DAR members volunteer more than 60,000 hours annually, aw
ard over $150,000 in scholarships and financial aid each year, and support schools for the underprivileged with annual donations exceeding one million dollars. Any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to join the DAR, regardless of race, creed, religion or country of origin. Our 165,000 members are located in 3,000 chapters across the country and around the world. DAR Headquarters, located in Washington D.C., is one of the largest complexes of buildings in the world owned and maintained by women. Encompassing a full city block, the Headquarters buildings are home to the DAR Museum, DAR Library, Americana Collection, and our auditorium, DAR Constitution Hall.
