I would like to extend my gratitude to the Buchanan Town Improvement Society for allowing us to rent their event hall for our next meet and greet of the candidates running for Buchanan town council and mayor. The intention is to have multiple opportunities, in multiple locations where people will feel comfortable and included in the conversations. Please join us this Friday, September 20 from 6:00pm- 8:00pm. Doors will open at 5:00pm.

It's understandable I would be frustrated by being blocked from a council candidate's campaign page being that I am a private citizen who happens to being running for Mayor, especially if it limits my ability to stay informed about their platform, as well as being told directly by that candidate that he did not block me from his campaign page. He has also blocked many private citizens in the Town of Buchanan from his campaign page. My question is, why?

Regarding the regulations around gambling licenses and bingo events in VA, only nonprofit organizations are allowed to apply for such licenses. Volunteers running the gambling events, to my understanding, need to be active members of the nonprofit organization to ensure compliance with local laws.

The situation with Mr. Bratcher's involvement in the bingo event and his membership status with the Lions Club does raise some questions about adherence to these regulations. It's important for organizers of these events to be transparent and follow the rules to maintain integrity and legality.

I would raise the question, when did Mr. Bratcher resign from the Lion’s and when did he reinstate his club membership? And why did he resign and then reinstate? Is Susan Way a member of the Lion’s Club? If so, has she been a consistently active member? I only ask that question because Mr. Bratcher tagged Susan in the FB post.

If you feel that Mr. Bratcher's actions are not in line with the state gambling regulations, you may consider bringing these concerns to the appropriate authorities with the Lion’s Club and state authorities for further clarification or investigation. Open communication and adherence to laws are crucial in maintaining trust and upholding the principles of fair play in such community events.

I want to offer several screen shots with date time stamps to allow organizations, town council, and private citizens to ask the questions and do their own research to come to their own conclusions.

I will also be sending this exact post to Mr. Bratcher directly, as I am blocked from his campaign page, meaning he won’t be able to see this.

🌟 Exciting Announcement 🌟

We are thrilled to announce the second meet and greet with the candidates running for the Town of Buchanan Council! 🗳️ We have selected a neutral location, as suggested by some candidates and citizens, for this gathering. 🏛️ We are delighted to have secured the Wilson Warehouse for our second meeting. The address is 421 Lowe Street Buchanan, VA 24066🤝 Join us on September 20th from 6-8 pm for an informative and engaging session with our candidates that are running for council!

🗣 Each candidate will have three minutes to introduce themselves, followed by a Q&A session with questions from the public. Questions can be submitted directly via email to the moderator, Mac Westland from Mac Westland Real Estate Group, ensuring authenticity and transparency. The email address is [email protected]. If you prefer to text or have a phone conversation, you can reach Mac at (540) 312-9202. Mac is requesting that the questions that are submitted are very direct. We are also blessed to have Amy White cohosting again from the Board of Supervisors! For example, what specific experience or qualifications do you bring to the role of serving on Town Council?

🗣️ Each candidate will get 3 minutes to introduce themselves. Of all of the questions submitted both verbally and via email, 6 will be randomly selected by the moderator to present to all of the candidates for a 3 minute response per candidate for each question. Then, in closing, each candidate will get 3 minutes to offer a closing statement.

📢 We will have this meet and greet on FB Live to allow people who cannot attend in person to view the meet and greet. One of our staff members will share comments from social media with the moderator to allow for those comments to be shared with the candidates also.

🗣️ A very big THANK YOU to Mac Westland with Mac Westland Real Estate Group and Amy White with Board of Supervisors for being the moderators. They will be moderating to ensure fairness, maintaining order, impartiality and offering their expertise. Having moderators for this event will create a professional and well organized setting that benefits both the candidates and the attendees.

📢 While there will not be enough time to have all questions that get submitted asked to candidates, we will encourage the running candidates to provide an email address or phone number so that the moderator can send out a list of all questions that were submitted to the candidates to allow them to respond directly to citizens.
