This morning, a few members from the department traveled over to Alabama to participate in training. We are very thankful for the great working relationships we have with neighboring agencies who never hesitate to invite us to train alongside them.

Today’s training consisted of live fire attack, RIT, and search evolutions. Opportunities like these allow our personnel to sharpen their skills, build teamwork, and better prepare to serve our community.

We appreciate the hospitality and look forward to continuing these strong partnerships.

This afternoon shortly after 4:00 PM, Haralson County Fire Department units responded to a commercial fire at a recycling facility located in Tallapoosa.

First arriving units encountered heavy smoke showing from the building and immediately initiated an aggressive fire attack. Crews worked quickly under heavy smoke conditions to locate and extinguish the fire while also conducting searches to ensure the building was clear of occupants.

Responding to incidents of this magnitude with our staffing is never an easy task, but our personnel once again demonstrated professionalism, teamwork, and dedication to the citizens we serve. I would like to congratulate all responding crews on a job well done.

We would also like to thank the Carrollton Fire Department HazMat Team for responding to assist with monitoring and checking the building.
