FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH LATE FRIDAY NIGHT
Flood Watch issued June 16 at 5:30PM EDT until June 20 at 2:00AM EDT by NWS Peachtree City GA

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central,
northeast, northwest, and west central Georgia, including the
following areas, in central Georgia, Baldwin, Bibb, Bleckley,
Butts, Crawford, Crisp, Dooly, Houston, Jasper, Jones, Monroe,
Peach, Pulaski, Putnam, Twiggs and Wilkinson. In east central
Georgia, Greene, Hancock and Washington. In north central Georgia,
Barrow, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth,
Gwinnett, Henry, Morgan, Newton, North Fulton, Rockdale, South
Fulton and Walton. In northeast Georgia, Oconee. In northwest
Georgia, Bartow, Carroll, Haralson, Paulding and Polk. In west
central Georgia, Chattahoochee, Coweta, Harris, Heard, Lamar,
Macon, Marion, Meriwether, Muscogee, Pike, Schley, Spalding,
Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor, Troup, Upson and Webster.

* WHEN...From Thursday morning through late Friday night.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Multiple rounds of rainfall are expected beginning Thursday
morning through Friday evening. A significantly moist tropical
environment across GA will support high rain rates and increased
chances for flash flooding. Widespread rainfall of 2 to 4 inches
will be possible with locally higher amounts of 5 inches or more.
Urban areas, and areas with poor drainage, will be the most
susceptible to flash flooding.

🚨 UPDATE 🚨
Georgia Power is on scene at each location

Haralson County Fire Department is advising motorists to avoid the following areas due to downed trees and power lines:

❌ Kiker Street between Chestnut Street and Leonard Street – Tree and power lines down.

❌ Bethany Street between N Ridge Drive and Bethany Church Road – Tree and power lines down.

❌ Riverside Road in the 500 block – Power lines down across the roadway.

⚠️ Pine Grove Road near Highway 120 – cleared

Power crews have been notified and are responding; however, due to the high volume of weather-related calls, extended response times are expected.

Please use caution, avoid these areas if possible, and never approach or drive over downed power lines. We will provide updates as they become available.

GEMA/HS Alert: Haralson All Hazards

Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of Paulding, Haralson, northwestern Carroll, south central Floyd, Polk and southwestern Bartow Counties through 800 PM EDT

Special Weather Statement issued June 14 at 7:14PM EDT by NWS Peachtree City GA
At 714 PM EDT, a line of strong thunderstorms was along a line extending from near Stilesboro to Esom Hill, and moving southeast at 35 mph.

HAZARD...Up to 40 mph wind, frequent cloud to ground lightning and
heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of light, unsecured objects. Heavy rain may cause temporary street flooding especially in poor drainage areas.

Locations impacted include...
Dallas, Cedartown, Buchanan, Bremen, Temple, Rockmart, Euharlee, Hiram, Tallapoosa, Aragon, Waco, Braswell, Taylorsville, Yorkville,
Burnt Hickory Ridge, Esom Hill, Draketown, New Hope, Fish Creek, and Etna.

People outdoors should seek shelter immediately. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Motorists should slow down and be prepared for possible loss of control due to
hydroplaning.

Today, we proudly celebrated the addition of our new Engine 10 to the Haralson County Fire Department fleet. This apparatus was made possible through SPLOST funds, and we are grateful for the continued support of the citizens of Haralson County who invest in public safety through these initiatives.

Engine 10 represents our ongoing commitment to providing the highest level of service, safety, and emergency response capabilities to our community. This new apparatus will help ensure our firefighters have reliable equipment and the resources needed to protect lives and property throughout Haralson County.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who attended today’s ceremony, including county officials and department personnel. Your support means a great deal to our firefighters and serves as a reminder of the strong partnership between our department and the community we proudly serve.

Thank you for your continued support of the Haralson County Fire Department. We look forward to placing Engine 10 into service and continuing our mission of serving and protecting the citizens of Haralson County.

At 330 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was over Buchanan, moving north
at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Up to 40 mph wind, pea sized hail and frequent cloud to
ground lightning.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of
light, unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Cedartown, Buchanan, Rockmart, Tallapoosa, Aragon, Fish Creek,
Felton, Eubank Lake, Antioch, and Van Wert.
People outdoors should seek shelter immediately. If you can hear
