🥕🍅 Join us this summer for our More In My Basket FY2026 Upcoming Events Series!
We’ll be covering helpful topics like SNAP/FNS benefits, budgeting for groceries, pantry ideas, online shopping with SNAP, and even a special market tour! These sessions are a great way to learn new tips, stretch your food dollars, and connect with others in the community.

Language Assistance: If you are interested in applying for the SNAP/FNS program in North Carolina, you can contact the More In My Basket team. They offer toll free lines that you can call Monday through Friday from 8am until 5pm.

Their team offers SNAP assistance in English, Spanish and Portuguese. More In My Basket can answer your questions about SNAP, run an eligibility screening and help you with the application over the phone. For other languages, your local Department of Social Services will provide language translation upon request.

Have you heard? 🎨🧵 The Swain County Agricultural Fair is introducing a brand-new Adult Arts & Crafts Exhibit for 2026! Whether you paint, draw, sew, carve, photograph, quilt, or create handmade treasures, this is your chance to showcase your talents and creativity.

📅 Fair Dates: August 21 & 22, 2026
📍 Great Smoky Mountains Event Park

Entries will be accepted on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM at the Swain County Cooperative Extension Office. We encourage artists, crafters, hobbyists, and makers of all skill levels to participate!

Join Jackson County 4-H for snack time!

Welcome to our junior cooking class! For ages 5-7, this series will cover a new snack, a new skill, and a new level of kitchen confidence each session. Youth will leave with the confidence to help their adults in the kitchen and to make their own healthy food!
All classes will be 3:00-4:30 PM at 876 Skyland Dr, Sylva in the Jackson County Cooperative Extension Office.

Come to one, come to all! All sessions will be capped at 10 youth participants. Guardians must remain on site with children at all times (don't worry, you can have food and fun too!).

Calling all Adult Artisans and Crafters!

We have a new category for the 2026 Swain County Agricultural Fair! See Flier below for details on how to enter and categories!

We are also looking for adult entries for the following: Baked Goods, Preserved Goods and Quilts!

Drop off will be Tuesday August 11 from 9-4 and judging will take place on Thursday August 13 from 9-4 at the Cooperative Extension Office located at 60 Almond School Road.
