swain.ces.ncsu.edu 4-H is a national youth organization that prepares young people to step up to the challenges in their community and the world. Young people who are a part of 4-H have the opportunity to explore all types of science, health, and citizenship programming delivered through 4-H clubs and camps,

as well as afterschool and in-school. In North Carolina, you can join 4-H if you are between the ages of 8-18. Some areas have special age-appropriate programs designed especially for younger kids. Check with Swain County Cooperative Extension office to find out what projects and activities are available for youth your age.

🐴 The Dayspring Farm Tour schedule for tomorrow, August 29, has been postponed. Stay tuned for a new date and time!

We look forward to joining Dayspring Equine Assisted Services, at a later date, where youth will have the opportunity to learn and interact with horses. More details coming soon! 🐎🌿

Take advantage of the Pony Express Pick-Up! Simply complete your online entry form, bring your exhibits to the Swain County Cooperative Extension Office, and the Pony Express will take care of the rest!

Today we mourn the loss of an American icon, a beloved philanthropist and a proud 4-H alumna, Dolly Parton. Her extraordinary life was defined not only by her incredible talent, but by her unwavering generosity, compassion and commitment to helping others.

For generations of young people, Dolly embodied what it means to use your gifts in service of others. From her roots in 4-H to her lifelong investment in literacy, education and community, she showed us that true leadership is grounded in humility, kindness, and purpose. As Dolly once said, "storms make trees take deeper roots." 💚

A proud 4-H alumna, she reminded us that challenges can strengthen us and help us grow. That wisdom will continue to inspire young people and communities for generations to come. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and the millions whose lives she touched. Her legacy of hope, generosity, and service will live on. 🍀

Did you know we have rockstars, right here in Swain County?! We are so very proud of everyone who participated in the West District Shooting Sports Tournament, last Saturday. You've been diligent about coming to practice, waited out the rain, ignored the sun, cheered on your teammates, and listened to your Coaches.

Please help us congratulate all of our participants in Shotgun, Rifle, and Archery! We can't forget our Coaches and parents who stay and help during each practice. Your dedication to these kids, and the program is unwavering.

On Saturday, Oct. 3, ten (YEP - 10!) of our Bullets & Bows 4-H Club Members will represent Swain County at the State Competition! GO GET EM!
