President John F. Kennedy established National Police Week in 1962 to coincide with Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15th, to pay honor to fallen and disabled peace officers. Today, officers of the Bryan Police Department gathered at the F.O.P. memorial on the courthouse lawn to pay respect to the brave and selfless service of those in our community.

Behind every call, there is a voice. The first voice someone hears when they need help, sometimes on their worst day. This voice is steady in the chaos, calming, reassuring, listening, and never gives up. This voice is that of our Police and Fire Dispatchers.

This isn't just any job. It's a calling only meant for those with strength and compassion. Often this job goes without recognition, but always with a purpose. You don't see a face, a badge, or fighting flames, but they are just as vital. They are the beginning of every response. The reason help arrives.

During Dispatch Appreciation Week, we honor you - the voice, the hearts, and the professionals who show up, shift after shift, every holiday, every weekend - ready to make a difference.

Thank you for being the calm in the storm. Every single day. 🖤💛🖤☎️🚓🚒
