Memorial Service planned for Trent Richardson:

Shared with The Reflector on behalf of the Richardson family: The community is invited to join the Richardson family in honoring the life and memory of Trent Richardson during a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Church on the Rock, 500 SW Eaton Blvd. in Battle Ground. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. The family asks attendees to wear black and orange. Parking is limited at River Home Link, so guests are encouraged to park nearby and walk if possible.

With school starting, we urge you to plan ahead for busier mornings on the road.

Give yourself a few extra minutes as school buses return to their routes and more students are walking and biking through our neighborhoods. Slow down, stay alert and help get the school year off to a safe start!

SR 503 is currently closed approximately between NE 369th St/SE Gabriel Road and NE Rock Creek Road. Please avoid the area and use alternate routes. Keeping roads clear is critical for emergency responders and residents evacuating the area.

Level 3 - GO NOW Evacuation zones have updated and Level 2 - BE SET and Level 1 - BE READY have also been sent to the areas surrounding Hidden Meadows Drive and Mountain View Drive. Emergency message from CRESA911. Wildfire burning West of 503 between Hidden Meadows Drive and Mountain View Drive. If you are within 0.5 miles of 14302 NE 346th St you are in a Level 3 GO NOW evacuation zone. LEAVE IMMEDIATELY! Failure to act now may result in injury or death.

A temporary evacuation assembly area is set-up at Charter Oak Community Church 12212 NE 299th St, Battle Ground, WA 98604

🔥 Smoke in the Area

We are aware of smoke currently being seen and smelled throughout the area. Our crews are actively monitoring conditions, and at this time, the smoke appears to be moving into our area due to a change in wind direction.

There is no known active fire in our immediate area at this time. We’ll continue to monitor conditions and provide updates if anything changes.

Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for five of our newest members.

This morning, we sent JD Bean, Havlyn Ehrich, Jess Guthmiller, and Brandon Marsh off to the Washington State Fire Training Academy in North Bend, where they'll begin the next phase of their journey toward becoming firefighters with Clark County Fire District 3.

Joining our team as a lateral firefighter, Nollan Charles has already begun our in-house lateral academy. With his previous experience, Nollan will complete a different training path that will allow him to get on the line and serving our community a little sooner, strengthening the service we provide while our recruits complete the academy.

Days like today are always special.

After months of testing, interviews, assessments, and an incredibly competitive hiring process, it's rewarding to see the excitement on the faces of those who have earned the opportunity to wear this patch. You can feel the anticipation, the pride, and the eagerness to get started. It's a reminder that every experienced firefighter once stood exactly where they are today.

The timing seemed fitting. As we gathered for photos beside Engine 31, a smoky sky hung over the district from wildfires burning across the Pacific Northwest. It served as a quiet reminder of the profession they are stepping into. One built on service, sacrifice, teamwork, and a commitment to helping others on what is often their worst day.

Before heading north, our recruits had the chance to spend time with several of the veteran firefighters who were training at the station today. Those moments matter. Experience is one of the greatest teachers in this profession, and every generation has a responsibility to invest in the next. Soon enough, these recruits will be the ones passing those lessons along.

Congratulations, JD, Havlyn, Jess, Brandon, and Nollan. We are excited to have you as part of the Fire District 3 family and look forward to watching each of you grow throughout your careers.

Train hard, stay humble, take care of one another, and enjoy every step of the journey.

⚠️ CANCELLED - Battle Ground's 2026 National Night Out Event⚠️

The City of Battle Ground has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2026 National Night Out event, scheduled for August 4, due to poor air quality. Following notices issued by the National Weather Service, this decision was made with the health and safety of our community, volunteers, staff, and public safety partners as our top priority.

The Battle Ground Police Department and Fire District 3 thank you for your understanding and support.

Our thoughts are with the communities affected by the wildfires and the dedicated first responders working tirelessly to protect them. Please stay safe and thank you for helping us put safety first. 💙

Many of our firefighters are currently deployed supporting wildfire response efforts across the region. Here at home, Fire District 3 is helping residents prepare before an emergency happens.

Recently, we hosted our first community wildfire preparedness presentation, bringing neighbors together to learn about local wildfire risks, practical steps to protect homes and property, and what it means to live in the wildland-urban interface. The participation and thoughtful discussion laid the groundwork for what we hope will become an annual event.
