The Elder Abuse Institute of Maine is pleased to announce that Piper Shores, Maine’s first and only nonprofit lifecare community has awarded a challenge sponsorship grant of up to $1,500, encouraging community members to support EAIME through a limited-time matching opportunity.

Piper Shores has been a sponsor partner of EAIME since 2024. Through this challenge grant, Piper Shores will match community donations dollar-for-dollar up to $1,500, effectively doubling the impact of gifts made until we meet our goal.

quote from CEO, Philip Jean at Piper Shores:
“Piper Shores is pleased to offer this challenge grant to inspire the community to join us in raising needed support on behalf of the seniors who will benefit from the support and services that EAIME provides.

“This challenge grant from Piper Shores is both a meaningful investment in our work and an invitation for the community to join in,” said Patty Kimball, Executive Director of the Elder Abuse Institute of Maine. “Matching opportunities like this inspire participation and help us reach our fundraising goals more quickly.”
Piper Shores is a nonprofit senior living community in Scarborough, Maine with a long-standing commitment to strengthening the broader community through philanthropic partnerships and civic engagement.

Community members are encouraged to participate while matching funds are available. Donations can be made at https://eaime.org/donate

This Giving Tuesday, we’re reflecting on just how much our community makes possible- and that includes you. You help ensure that older Mainers do not have to face their challenges alone, and that their voice truly guides the way forward.

As we continue this work together, we’re deeply grateful for the care, generosity, and belief in dignity that you bring to our mission. Thank you for showing up for older Mainers. Your Giving Tuesday gift today helps keep that circle of support strong, steady, and full of possibility.

Thank you to everyone who shared the post or donated! Because of your generosity, we met our baseline goal of $200 and can now help an older survivor of abuse continue on their healing journey in the way that is meaningful to them. We are proud to be part of a community that is so quick to help and uplift one another!

Hello Friends!

Many of you are familiar with our Martha's Cottage Program- transitional housing for older victims of abuse. Martha's Cottage is a place where people come and find space to breathe and heal as they begin to remap their life in the way that suits them and their future. We work diligently to meet our resident's needs while they live with us, but there are areas we are limited. We currently have a resident who is ready to reconnect with their love of painting and artistry as part of their Martha's Cottage journey. We are looking to raise $200-300 to purchase the supplies necessary to support this exciting endeavor.

If you are able, please consider donating and/or share this post with other community members- we appreciate any and all support in our mission to serve, uplift, and empower older adults who have experienced abuse.

Every month EAIME hosts a speaker to present to our team on relevant topics, skills, and resources. Today, we were thrilled to hear from Mary Gagnon, the Director of Su***de Prevention at NAMI Maine (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Mary shared about Mental Health Signs and Symptoms and best practices while supporting older individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

NAMI Maine provides advocacy, education, and support so that all individuals, families, and communities affected by mental illness can live fulfilling lives. You can read more about their work here: https://namimaine.org/

Thank you, Mary!
