ONLY WATER, NOT TRASH, BELONGS IN STORM DRAINS

With the recent afternoon downpours, now is a good time to highlight roadway trash migration to coastal water bodies via our storm drain system.

Land Litter quickly reaches our coastal natural resources via storm drains, with over 250 Golden Isles area storm drain outfalls providing direct access. Storm water heads directly to coastal water bodies, and does NOT pass through a treatment plant first as does household greywater.

In Coastal Communities, LAND LITTER = MARINE DEBRIS.

Protect our natural resources (rivers, streams, creeks, salt marshes, Atlantic Ocean) by properly disposing of trash and debris.

GARDEN VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES WITH UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant

As temperatures begin to cool down, you are invited to join UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant in taking care of their Brunswick Demonstration Garden! These efforts will help to maintain the educational and habitat value of the garden for Georgia's coastal communities.

Volunteers can support:
~ W**d suppression
~ Irrigation
~ Pruning shrubs and trees
~ Propagation and planting

When: From September 29 to November 19, 2026, volunteer opportunities are open every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 8-10am.

Where: 715 Bay Street, Brunswick, GA 31520

What to Bring:
~ drinking water
~ clothes that can get dirty
~ bug spray and sunscreen
~ closed-toe shoes
~ trowels or gardening tools (optional)

SHOUT OUT to KGIB Adopt-A Group WOMEN'S VOICES OF GLYNN COUNTY for their recent Mighty Cleanup Efforts!

WOMEN'S VOICES OF GLYNN COUNTY adopted Brunswick's Urbana Park several years ago, and does a fantastic job with their quarterly park cleanups. From providing shaved ice and ice cream trucks at their cleanups to instilling a fun and welcoming atmosphere, they engage local residents to come out and join in the litter pickup fun!

KGIB's Adopt-a Groups work tirelessly to help remove roadway and public space trash and litter. Committed to quarterly cleanups in their adopted areas, these dedicted folks are part a vibrant volunteer network helping keep the Golden Isles clean and beautiful.
