Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, family, and Father’s Day crew. We’ll have food and drink vendors, yard games, a few Father’s Day surprises, and free admission starting at 5:00 p.m.

2025 marks the 161st anniversary of the Juneteenth Celebration of Freedom, which began in Galveston, Texas on June 19th, 1865.

Juneteenth is a holiday celebrated on the 19th of June to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, slaves were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.

A reminder that Brownwood City Hall, Landfill and Recycling Center, and other non-emergency facilities will close Friday, June 19th in observance of the Juneteenth Holiday. Regular operating hours will resume Saturday June 20th for the Landfill and Monday June 22nd for all other non-emergency facilities.

The City of Brownwood will host Texas A&M AgriLife Extension - Brown County Family and Community Health at the Adam Street Community Center for the Heart of Texas: New World Screwworm & Pasture Mealybug Update on Wednesday, June 24, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

This free program will provide livestock producers, ranchers, and landowners with timely information on New World Screwworm updates, reporting procedures, livestock prevention practices, and the invasive Pasture Mealybug affecting pastures and hayfields.

The event will be held at Adam Street Community Center, 511 E. Adams Street. Please RSVP through the Brown County Extension Office.

Progress continues at the Shops on Commerce!

Some tenant spaces have now been turned over to retailers, marking the beginning of the interior build-out phase. Framing, HVAC work, drywall installation, and other finishing elements are underway as these future storefronts continue to take shape.

The lawn is going live THIS Sunday, June 21! ☀️🎶

Texas Soul artist Kirk House Music will headline the first Live on the Lawn this Sunday at 5pm at the Brownwood Event Center, with opening music from Hunter Brinson and Brandon Aguilar.

Bring Dad, bring your lawn chairs, and spend Father’s Day evening with free live music, food, drinks, and summer fun on the lawn.

Food and drink vendors will include:

Riverside Park Phase II improvements are underway.

Projects include new sidewalks, overlook pavilions, and utility infrastructure to support the improvements throughout the park.

Riverside Park will remain open during construction, but certain sections will be closed off as work takes place in each designated project area. Please use caution around barricades and construction zones.
