This October, neighborhoods across Brownwood will come together for National Night Out, a nationwide campaign focused on strengthening relationships between residents and local law enforcement, firefighters and other first responders while encouraging stronger neighborhood connections.

In partnership with Good Samaritan Ministries and Heart of Texas Crime Stoppers, Brownwood’s National Night Out will take place on Tuesday, October 6, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., with block parties and community gatherings happening throughout the city.

Ulta Beauty is the final retailer to receive its exterior signage, joining Ross, Five Below, Bath & Body Works, and James Avery on the storefront!

With Bath & Body Works, Five Below, and James Avery now open, the Shops on Commerce is getting busier by the week. Ulta Beauty and Ross are up next, and we’re excited to see this new retail development continue to come to life!

We’ll continue sharing opening updates as the remaining retailers get closer to opening their doors.

The Brownwood Police Department accepted a $3,000 donation from Heart of Texas Crime Stoppers at today’s City Council meeting to support this year’s National Night Out festivities on October 6. The donation was presented by Donna Wilhelm and will help support activities planned for the community event.

A reminder that Brownwood City Hall, Landfill and Recycling Center, and other non-emergency facilities will close Monday, September 7th for the Labor Day holiday.

Here's some more awesome news, Brownwood! James Avery has their soft opening beginning today with a brand new, fully stocked store at the Shops on Commerce!

To kick off their soft opening, James Avery is offering a Gift Card Giveaway that will run through their Grand Opening on September 12th. The Grand Opening will also offer goodie bags for new customers on the 12th.

Brownwood received statewide recognition today!

Visit Brownwood earned two Texas Destination Excellence Awards at the Destinations Texas Annual Conference, recognizing the promotion of the 2026 NJCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship and the 2025 Feels Like Home Festival.

These recognitions highlight the continued work to bring visitors to Brownwood, support our local economy and showcase our community as a destination for sports, events and tourism.
