Brownwood City Hall, Landfill and Recycling Center and other non-emergency facilities will close Friday, April 3rd. Regular operating hours will resume Saturday April 4th for the Landfill and Monday April 6th for all other non-emergency facilities.

Weldon Watkins, Sanitation Operator I, has been awarded a challenge coin by the Public Works Superintendents in recognition of his outstanding service to the City of Brownwood. Challenge coins are a tradition in many organizations, given to honor exceptional achievement, service, and commitment to core values.

Since joining the City on March 4, 2024, Weldon has consistently modeled the ISERVE core values. Weldon demonstrates a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a willingness to take on any task without complaint. He shows up each day ready to work and committed to serving the community.

Prescribed burn in progress resulting in visible smoke.

The United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), along with the National Guard, is conducting a prescribed burn on property at the Camp Bowie Training Center. If weather permits, the burn will continue during daytime hours over the next few days.

All non-emergency facilities, with the exception of the Brownwood Senior Citizen Center, will reopen on Thursday, January 29th.

Brownwood Senior Citizens Center will only be delivering home delivery meals and will not be serving in-person congregate meals.

All non-emergency facilities, including City Hall, will be closed on Monday, January 26th. Emergency services will continue to operate as normal including Fire, Police, and Dispatch.
