The 2026 Volunteer Appreciation Dinner was a meaningful evening dedicated to honoring the volunteers who are such an important part of our organization and community. The event brought together fellowship, camaraderie, and celebration as we recognized the individuals who generously give their time, dedication, and compassion to serve others. The evening also included the presentation of awards and certificates of appreciation recognizing our volunteers’ dedication and service to the community. Volunteers truly are a special breed, and it was a wonderful evening celebrating their commitment.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our guest speakers and community leaders who joined us for the evening: Marshal McIntosh, City Manager of Brownwood; Stephen Haynes, Mayor of Brownwood; Chief Hicks, Chief of Fire and Emergency Management for the City of Brownwood; Cliff Karnes, Brown County Emergency Manager; and Gwen Stone, Texas Division of Emergency Management Liaison. Their support, encouragement, and recognition of our volunteers made the evening even more meaningful.

The Cinco de Mayo festivities in downtown Brownwood continue to be a valued tradition for our community, bringing people together each year to celebrate and connect. The Brown County Medical Reserve Corps was proud to support the event by staffing a first aid station and engaging with community members through volunteer recruitment. We are honored to serve our community and remain committed to maintaining a dedicated team of volunteers who are prepared to respond when emergencies arise.

The Brown County Medical Reserve Corps has been assisting the Brown County Emergency Manager with Community Preparedness Events, helping residents in Precinct 2 and Precinct 4 sign up for the county alert system.

Receiving emergency alerts is critical to staying informed during severe weather, evacuations, and other public safety situations. These notifications can provide life-saving information when every second counts.

The next event will be held on May 9th at the Blanket Volunteer Fire Department for Precinct 3.

Come out and get signed up to stay informed, stay safe, and stay prepared!
