Community Notice: 2026 New World Screwworm Outbreak

Texas animal health authorities have confirmed cases of New World Screwworm in Texas. This parasite can affect livestock, pets, wildlife, and in rare cases even people, so awareness is important.

State and federal partners are responding and working to control the spread. Staying informed and acting quickly helps protect our animals, our community, and our local agriculture.

If you have questions about symptoms or reporting, reach out to your veterinarian or your local extension office.

🍔🌮 Attention Mobile Food Vendors! The information below provides a step-by-step guide to assist you with starting the new Mobile Food Vendor application process.

1. Visit the City of Brownwood Mobile Food Vendor webpage.

2. Open the document titled "Mobile Food Vendor License Changes."

3. Click on the "Submit an application" link.

4. On the right side of the screen, select "Register as a New User" and complete the registration process.

5. After registering, use the menu on the left side of the screen and select:
* What are you applying for? → Retail Food Program
* Choose Application → Mobile Food Vendor Initial Application

6. Complete and submit the application, providing all required information.

Once your application has been submitted and you receive your payment receipt, please email a copy of the receipt for records to [email protected].

🎉 Exciting News! Our new cards are here and on July 1, they will make shopping with WIC a whole lot easier. With this card, you will have easier access to WIC benefits!

What you need to know about your new card:

🗓️Get it at an upcoming appointment between April and June 2026.

🔐Set your PIN before you shop.

🛒 Swipe your new card at stores starting July 1.

Use your current card with a chip until it’s time to switch. Store your new card in a safe place until July 1.

Qué necesitas saber sobre tu nueva tarjeta:
