Game Format
- Teams: 5 players (4 field players + 1 goalkeeper).
- Match Duration: 40 minutes (two 20-minute halves).
- Field Size: Smaller than a standard soccer field.
- Kick-Off: Water polo-style—players sprint from the goal line to the ball at midfield after the whistle.
League Structure
- Number of Teams: 12 teams in total.
- Regular Season: Each team plays 11 matches (one match against every other team).
- Advancement to Finals: The top 8 teams in the standings after the regular season advance to the finals.
- Finals Format: Single-elimination knockout tournament to determine the champion.
Gameplay Rules
- Substitutions: Unlimited and can happen at any time.
- No Offside Rule: Players can position themselves freely.
- Golden Cards: Each team draws 1 random golden card before the match. These provide unique advantages (see below).
Fouls & Discipline
- Yellow Card: Player sits out for 2 minutes.
- Red Card: Player is ejected, and the team plays with 4 players for 5 minutes.
Scoring & Penalties
- Goals: Standard 1 point per goal (unless a golden card changes it).
- Penalty Shootouts: If tied, or when awarded, penalties are taken in a 1v1 format: a player starts from midfield and has 5 seconds to score against the goalkeeper.
Extra Time Rule
- If the match ends in a tie after 40 minutes, the game goes into golden goal overtime:
- The first team to score wins the match immediately.
- Overtime begins with 4v4.
- If no one scores after 3 minutes, the number of players is progressively reduced to 3v3, 2v2, and finally 1v1, until a goal is scored.
- If no goal is scored during overtime, the match is decided by a 1v1 penalty shootout.
Golden Cards
We will have 10 golden cards in our league. Each team draws one card before the match and can use it strategically. Examples include:
1. Double Goal: Your next goal counts as 2 points.
2. Steal a Player: Borrow an opposing player for 2 minutes.
3. Extra Player: Your team can play with 6 players for 2 minutes.
4. Remove Opponent Player: Choose an opponent to sit out for 2 minutes.
5. Instant Penalty: Your team gets an immediate penalty kick.
6. Goal Canceller: Cancel the opponent’s last scored goal.
7. Golden Player: Designate one player whose goals count double for 5 minutes.
8. No Keeper: Force the opposing team to play without a goalkeeper for 1 minute.
9. Wildcard: Redraw a new golden card.
10. Secret Weapon: Bring in a substitute player for 5 minutes who isn’t on the roster.
Points System
- *Win*: 3 points
- *Loss*: 0 points
Other Notes
- Sportsmanship: Respect for all players, referees, and spectators is mandatory.
- Weather: Games will proceed rain or shine.
