Brownsville Independent School District Brownsville ISD, encompassing 95 square miles, educates over 33,500 students.

The Brownsville Independent School District (BISD) serves the largest city and student population in the Rio Grande Valley. Approximately 6,000 employees have accepted the challenge of serving a population of over 37,898 students. The district recognizes and addresses the unique cultural lifestyle of South Texas with a broad selection of activities and programs for all students. These programs range from early college high schools to support programs for students with special needs. There is pride in the progress BISD has made with regard to state-mandated testing. Better scores have translated into more seniors fulfilling degree requirements and graduating college and career-ready. Academically, both the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Texas Education Agency have accredited Brownsville public schools.

🌱 Sharp Gardening Club — Ready, Set, GROW! 🌱

Yesterday afternoon, students at Sharp Elementary rolled up their sleeves and got to work cleaning out the garden beds to prepare for a new gardening season! 🧤🌱

A big thank you to Gardening Sponsor Ms. Palmar, Volunteer Ms. Melchor, and Principal Mary E. Rodriguez for supporting our young gardeners as they explore gardening, healthy choices, teamwork, and caring for the environment through the “Learn, Grow, Eat & Go!” curriculum from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension–Cameron County and Texas 4-H. 🍅🥕 🥦

The BISD Parent & Family Engagement Department hosted its annual “Know Your Community” Fair, bringing BISD families together with community partners and valuable resources and services.
