The BPUB is an agency of the City of Brownsville, Texas, created under the city’s Home Rule Charter to manage and control Brownsville’s municipally owned electric, water and wastewater systems. The electric system was established in 1904 to provide street lighting and electric service to the area. BPUB provides electric service to approximately 46,000 industrial, commercial and residential custome

BPUB crews identified a broken pole top pin causing a power outage affecting approximately 1895 customers in the areas of Kings Hwy; Regal Row; Boca Chica from Security Dr to Texas Ave; Villa Verde; Blanche St to Evelina St; Coolidge St; Southmost from E 14th to Tulipan; E 19th to E 29th; German St; Stanolind; Jennifer; Lazay Acres; Porter High School and surrounding streets.

A BTX contractor struck and damaged a main water line at the intersection of Southmost Blvd and Morningside Rd causing flooding and leading to the closure of Morningside Rd between Southmost Blvd and Central Ave. BPUB crews were notified and are working to repair the damage. The road closure is estimated to last 8 hours.
