A Day of Training, Gratitude, and a Reminder of Why We Serve 🚒❤️
Today was a special day for the Brownsville Fire Department. We would like to thank ZOLL for spending time with our personnel and showcasing their state-of-the-art cardiac monitoring equipment. We also extend our appreciation to 7 Brew for providing refreshments and Laredo Taco Company for feeding our personnel. Their generosity and support helped make today even more meaningful for the men and women who serve our community every day.
We were also grateful to have several community partners join us in recognizing our firefighters and paramedics for their service surrounding Labor Day and as we approach the anniversary of September 11th—a time that carries tremendous meaning for the fire service.
But perhaps the most meaningful moment of the day came when members of our department were reunited with a critically injured trauma patient whose life they helped save. Seeing that patient standing, smiling, and surrounded by family after making an incredible recovery was a powerful reminder that behind every call, every training session, and every long shift is a person whose life may depend on the actions of our crews.
Training prepares us. Service defines us. And moments like today remind us why we do what we do.
We are proud of the men and women of the Brownsville Fire Department and grateful for the community we have the privilege to serve.

Labor Day is an opportunity to recognize the hardworking men and women whose dedication, skill, and service help keep our community moving forward every day.

While many across our community enjoy a well-earned day with family and friends, the men and women of the Brownsville Fire Department remain on duty—answering the call, protecting our neighborhoods, and standing ready when our community needs us.

Today, we recognize not only our firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, and support personnel, but all of the hardworking people of Brownsville who contribute each day to making our city a better place to live, work, and raise a family.

The BFD Charity Golf Classic is bringing our community together for a great day of golf — all while supporting our Annual Christmas Toy Drive!

All proceeds from the tournament go directly toward helping us provide Christmas toys for children in our community.

08/18/2026: This morning, the Brownsville Fire Department responded to reports of a farm animal, trapped in a ditch. upon arrival, crews discovered an adult cow sunken neck-deep in mud at the bottom of a ditch.

Thankfully, personnel on scene have trained in how to handle this exact situation. Mud was dug out to pass straps through bottom side of the cow, Head of cow was protected with a life jacket, and a piercing nozzle was used to push water under the cow and reduce the suction effect of the mud. The cow was freed and lifted to safety at the top of the ditch.

Securing the newly freed cow was a bit of a challenge. Luckily, the boys had the lasso on standby! 😂

overall, tremendous work by a solid group of individuals ready to answer any call for help. ❤️🐄
