Greater Washington County Food Bank

Greater Washington County Food Bank The mission of GWCFB is to form lasting solutions to hunger insecurity through effective food distribution. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

For over 33 years the Greater Washington County Food Bank, a non-profit organization, has been providing groceries and nutritional information/education to food insecure residents of Washington County. It is estimated that Washington County currently has over 25,000 people who are food insecure. While we don't distribute food from our home office; we do distribute food through our network of 45 di

stribution sites located throughout Washington County. We also work with 7 agencies and support several after school food programs that help ensure food insecure students have something to eat over the weekend. Currently over 30% of our recipients are children under the age of 18, and over 20% are seniors. We rely primarily on community support to meet these objectives in a caring and compassionate way.

Gardening season is here! 🌱It is not too late to start a garden if you haven’t already. Need seeds? Ask your local library or farmer if they have anything they can share!

Whether you’re growing tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, or herbs, summer gardens can be a wonderful way to stretch your grocery budget and enjoy fresh foods at home.

Have extra produce this season? Consider sharing with neighbors, friends, family members, or local food programs. A small act of kindness can go a long way in helping others in our community.

When school lets out for summer, many children lose access to the breakfasts, lunches, and school pantries they rely on during the school year. For families already struggling to make ends meet, summer can quickly become one of the hardest seasons.

Together, we can help ensure children and families have access to nutritious meals all summer long. Every donation, volunteer hour, and shared post helps make a difference.
