Edmonson County Scouts BSA units 597 and 114 decide to provide the Edmonson County Lions club by picking up trash around the grand stands at the fair grounds on September 19, 2022. Youth interested in joining Scouts BSA can attend a meeting on Monday nights at 6:09pm at the Edmonson County Lions Club.

The Edmonson County Lions Club has been the beneficiary of an Eagle Scout project. Edmonson County Boy Scout Troop 597, Eagle Scout Candidate Jason Willis decide for his Eagle Scout Project, he wanted to do something for the Edmonson County Lions Club for their support of the scouting program. Eagle Scout Candidate Jason Willis decided that he wanted to refurbish the picnic tables belonging to the Edmonson County Lions Club. Eagle Candidate Jason Willis developed a plan, and the plan was approved by Edmonson County Boy Scout Troop 597’s leadership. Eagle Candidate Jason Willis was able to raise money, and get supplies donated for his plan to refurbish the picnic tables. After obtaining the necessary supplies, fellow scouts and scout leaders followed Eagle Scout Candidate Jason Willis’ plan and direction for refurbishing the Edmonson County Lions Club’s picnic tables. Under the direction and supervision of Eagle Scout Candidate Jason Willis, the picnic tables received new pressure treated wood, nuts and bolts and the metal frames received a fresh coat of rust resistant paint. Edmonson County Boy Scout Troop 597 is sponsored by the Edmonson County Lions Club. Edmonson County Boy Scout Troop 597 meets on Monday nights at 6:00 p.m. at the Edmonson County Lions Club. Youth interested in joining scouts can attend the meetings to obtain additional information.

Boy Scout Troop 597 and Venturing Crew 805 are embarking on a trip to Philmont (Cimarron, New Mexico) in June 2022. The group will be traveling to New Mexico via Amtrak. To help fund-raise for the travel, the Scouts are doing a aluminum drink can drive. So from now until April 11, 2022. That way we can get with whomever wishes to assist and have the cans ready for the scout's turn in date. The cans to be collected are the empty cans after the beverage has been consumed. (For Clarification).

On November 5/6, 2021, Scouts BSA Troop 597 went camping at Rotary Scout Camp, Glasgow, KY. While at Camp Rotary, the Scouts conducted a service project by clearing the Camp Trail through a power-line easement. The Scouts were also treated to history of the camp by the Camp Caretaker Steve Daugherty. Following the activities at Camp Rotary, the Scouts went to Hidden River Cave for repelling. The Scouts are Sponsored by the Edmonson County Lions Club. The Scouts meet every Monday night at 6:00pm at the Edmonson County Lions Club.
