Excuses will always be there for you. Opportunity won’t.

I had a very heart-felt conversation with someone recently. It made me think of a story someone told me about OPPORTUNITY.

A talk show host invites a billionaire on set to do a live interview. As they were taking, the host asks the billionaire the golden question, “what’s your secret to success?”

Instead of responding immediately, the billionaire pulled out his checkbook and pen and placed it in front of the host and told her to write down any amount!

Puzzled, the host chuckles in disbelief and slides the checkbook and pen back to him and says “oh no, I couldn’t.”

The billionaire responds “no really! Write down any amount you want and it’s yours!”

The host again laughs and says “no, thank you but that’s not necessary.”

“Are you sure?” He asks.

“Yes! That just doesn’t seem right!” She exclaims.

The billionaire returns his checkbook and pen to his pocket and says, “the secret to success is not letting opportunities pass you by.”

For those who don't know me, I'm Staff Sergeant ANGEL ORTA, the newest US Army Recruiter at the Brownsville Recruiting Station. 🇺🇸

1. I was born & raised in San Juan, PR 🇵🇷
2. Hablo Español.
3. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design.
4. Joined the Army in 2014.
5. NYC is my HOR (Home of Record).
6. My MOS is 88M- Army Motor Transport
Operator.
7. Did my Basic Training at Fort Jackson, SC &
AIT in Ft Leonardwood, MO.
8. My FDS (First Duty Station) was Ft Campbell,
KY with the 101st Airborne Division ⛩.
9. Just PCS'd to the Valley from Ft. Bragg, NC.
10. Returned from a 9-month tour to
Afghanistan back in March.
11. I enjoy swimming & running.
12. Coffee is life.
13. I'm Air Assault certified.
14. I'm also an US Army Paratrooper, with 15
jumps to date 🪂
15. My grandfather served in the Vietnam War.
16. I've been to many places/countries while
serving, all paid by the Army.
17. I'm a certified Master Driver.
