A broad area of low pressure is situated over the east coast of Mexico. Development is not expected as the system moves inland. However, the system could re-emerge over the northwestern Gulf next Tuesday or Wednesday. Conditions are forecast to remain only marginally favorable for storm development.

A broad area of low pressure is situated over the Bay of Campeche with a low (10%) chance of development within the next 48 hours. The center of low pressure should move inland over eastern Mexico by early Sunday. The system could re-emerge over the northwestern Gulf next Tuesday or Wednesday. Conditions are forecast to remain only marginally favorable for storm development.

Apparently, our radar is going to need a minute or two. Technicians have been notified. In the meantime, please use the Corpus Christi radar (CRP), if you're trying to plan your day or evening around any these bands of showers.

Brief heavy rain is expected through the afternoon. The best chance of persistent slower-moving heavy rain remains Monday into Wednesday.

4:47 AM CDT: Rain showers associated with the broad area of low pressure over the Bay of Campeche is knocking on the door of Brownsville this morning, Expect for the first wave of rain showers to arrive within the next hour over Brownsville, South padre Island, and Port Isabel. These rain showers will then continue to advance northwestward to impact other locations this morning.

4:47 AM CDT: Here is the latest satellite animation of the remnants of what was Tropical Storm Cristina now churning over the Bay of Campeche. Brownsville and the rest of Deep South Texas is on the northern reaches of this broad area of low pressure where clouds along with showers and embedded thunder is quickly moving into our area this morning.

🟡 There is a low (20%) chance of this system organizing over the next 48 hours to 7 days before it moves over eastern Mexico late Saturday or Sunday.

Conditions at the local beaches today will be unfavorable with a High risk of rip currents through Sunday, and a Coastal Flood Statement in effect around times of high tide. Today, high tide at SPI will happen at 5:41 AM.

A Small Craft Advisory goes into effect at 1 PM today for the Laguna Madre and lower TX Gulf Waters out to 60 nm.
