Two New Honorary Junior Rangers at Resaca de la Palma!
Today, we had the privilege of recognizing two young visitors with Honorary Junior Ranger badges for going above and beyond to help keep our park clean.
While hunting with their family, these two boys were picking up spent shotgun shells throughout the area. Their dad had offered them one cent for every shell they picked up, turning a simple cleanup into a fun challenge. When Ranger Sam passed by, their entire area was already clean — but that didn’t stop them. They continued walking around, actively looking for more shells to pick up. And every time we came back through the area, they were still at it!
What started as a little motivation to earn some money turned into something much bigger: learning responsibility, taking pride in the land, and becoming stewards of the outdoors.
Today, they may have been picking up shells for a penny… but tomorrow, they’ll hopefully be picking them up because they understand why it matters.
Congratulations, boys! Resaca de la Palma is proud to call you Honorary Junior Rangers!
