JURY CONVICTS PILOT OF SEXUAL MISCONDUCT WITH A MINOR

After a 3-day jury trial this week, a Hendricks County jury found Zachary Stober GUILTY of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, a Level 4 Felony, on May 14. The jury was unable to reach a verdict on the Level 3 R**e charge.

Evidence presented at trial showed the defendant used Snapchat and social media to communicate with and target the juvenile victim before arranging to meet her in person and bringing her to his apartment in Avon. Investigators also uncovered multiple inconsistent statements made by the defendant during the investigation.

Through coordinated investigative work involving social media evidence, employment records tied to a local flight training organization where the defendant worked as a pilot, and additional investigative techniques, law enforcement was able to identify and locate the defendant.

Cases like this are exactly why my office has made protecting children and protecting families a top priority. Social media and messaging apps have become one of the primary ways predators gain access to children, often without parents fully realizing the danger until it is too late.

As I have stated many times over one of the most important responsibilities of the Prosecutor’s Office is protecting children from those who would exploit them. The internet has created new tools for predators, but the message from my office remains simple: if you use social media to target children in Hendricks County, you will be aggressively investigated, prosecuted, and serious prison time will be sought. We will always fight to protect families and hold offenders accountable.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 8 at 1:00 p.m. The defendant faces a sentencing range of 2 to 12 years in the Indiana Department of Correction and will be required to register as a s*x offender.

HCPO will always standing with victims, support law enforcement, and aggressively prosecute those who prey upon children.

As many of you know I’ve have been sued twice by Planned Parenthood in my official capacity as Hendricks County Prosecutor. Today the Indiana Supreme Court denied Planned Parenthood’s request to transfer its most recent attempt to challenge Indiana’s abortion law and related enforcement authority. As a result, the Indiana Court of Appeals decision remains in effect.

Though the excellent work by Attorney General Todd Rokita’s Office the Court of Appeals affirmed the denial of Planned Parenthood’s requested declaratory and injunctive relief and held that Indiana’s abortion statute and life-and-health exception remain constitutionally enforceable under Indiana law.

The Court specifically concluded that Indiana’s Constitution does not create a broad right to abortion beyond circumstances where an abortion is absolutely medically necessary to protect the life of the mother or prevent a serious health risk, and that the Indiana General Assembly retains broad authority to regulate and prohibit abortions outside those limited circumstances.

As Prosecutor, I took an oath to uphold and enforce the laws of the State of Indiana. I will continue to faithfully enforce duly enacted criminal statutes passed by the people’s elected representatives, including those intended to protect innocent human life, those born and unborn.

~CORRECTION~

Apparently when I publicly thanked a “pretty special Township Trustee,” Center Township Trustee William Wright immediately assumed I was talking about him!

To his credit, he didn’t just ask. He showed up with flowers, chocolate, and a stuffed animal like we were in the final scene of a Lifetime movie. It was too funny!

Unfortunately for Bill, I was actually talking about my wife Angela Delp, who is the Brown Township Trustee.

But I gotta say, I appreciate the effort.

Thanks for the laugh Bill! (I’m keeping the Ferrero Rocher).

~LOREN DELP WINS HENDRICKS COUNTY REPUBLICAN NOMINEE FOR PROSECUTOR OF THE 55th JUDICIAL CIRCUIT~

It’s official!
Tonight, I want to sincerely thank the people of Hendricks County for your faith in me and my campaign for the Republican nomination for a third term as your Hendricks County Prosecutor.

For more than 21 years, I have had the honor of serving as a Hendricks County prosecutor, including nearly the last 8 years as your elected prosecutor. During that time, we have remained committed to protecting the most essential institution in our society: your families.

We have done that by aggressively targeting the crimes that most directly threaten families and safe communities, including s*xual predators, drug dealing, violent offenders, killers, and habitual criminals. Because of the hard work of our prosecutors, investigators, law enforcement partners, and support staff, some of the sentences imposed in our most serious cases have been among the highest in the State of Indiana.

While we ultimately did not draw an opponent, make no mistake, we were fully prepared to demonstrate our record, defend our results, and show the people of Hendricks County exactly how successful this office has been in making our community safer. Our record and relationships made it possible. We were ready because we are proud of the work that has been done and confident in the direction we are heading.

I am deeply grateful for the trust the people of Hendricks County have placed in us to continue serving on their behalf.

On a personal note, I also want to thank the many leaders, supporters, and friends who publicly demonstrated their confidence in me and the direction of prosecution in Hendricks County, including Attorney General Todd Rokita, Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith, multiple state senators and state representatives, county council members, town council members, the Fraternal Order of Police, law enforcement community, local elected officials, volunteers, and countless citizens across this county including a pretty special Township Trustee.

I do not take your support lightly.

Rest assured, we will not relent. We will continue fighting every day to keep Hendricks County safe, to stand up for victims, and to remain focused on what matters most: Protecting Families. Now on to November!

📊 Voting for Republican Prosecutors Save Lives Research Shows.

What do the kids say, “Just sayin?”

New research (link below) shows real world impacts of voting for Republican prosecutors.

A Vanderbilt University study recently highlighted by The Federalist finds that counties which elect Republican prosecutors see a significant reduction in all-cause death rates for young men (ages 20–29) — about a 6.6% drop compared to similar counties where Republicans lose.

Why does this matter?

🔹 Prosecutors set priorities on how crimes are charged, how offenders are held accountable, and who is kept out of harm’s way.

🔹 According to the research, counties with Republican prosecutors saw fewer firearm homicides and fewer accidental firearm deaths.

🔹 That likely reflects tougher enforcement for violent offenders and stronger protections for communities — not just rhetoric.

Electing the right prosecutor isn’t just about law and order, it can literally save lives.

If you want a prosecutor who will put community safety first, stand firm on crime, and protect our families here in Hendricks County, Loren Delp is that person.

Wednesday night we wrapped up the first class of our 3rd Annual Citizen’s Prosecutor Academy.

I started this academy to better explain the true role of a prosecutor — not the version people see in television dramas or political debates, but the real responsibility entrusted to this office.

We began each class with an examination of the foundational principles about the role of a prosecutor: “The prosecutor’s interest is in ensuring justice is done, rather than winning a case. He is considered a servant of the law, aiming to prevent the escape of the guilty and the suffering of the innocent. While a prosecutor should act with earnestness and vigor, they are not permitted to use improper methods to secure a conviction.”

That is the ethical standard. From there, we had a lively and thoughtful discussion:

-Is lawfare appropriate?
-For personal vindictive motivations?
-For “social justice” reasons?
-Is it acceptable to refuse to prosecute entire statutes passed by the legislature?

These questions go directly to the rule of law and the role of a prosecutor.

A prosecutor’s duty is not to win at all costs. It is not to pursue ideology. It is not to target political opponents or to protect allies. The duty is to seek justice, enforce the law as written, exercise discretion responsibly, and ensure both that the guilty are held accountable and that the innocent are protected.

~Max sentence for Defendant who caused death of two children~

Today, S’Doni Pettis was sentenced in Hendricks County Circuit Court to 74 years in the Indiana Department of Correction for his role in a violent police pursuit that ended in a catastrophic crash, a vehicle engulfed in flames, and the deaths of two very young children. The sentence the court imposed represents the maximum sentence under Indiana law.

Earlier this year, in the middle of his trial, Pettis pled guilty as charged to every count stemming from the incident. The court entered convictions on all charges and imposed a sentence reflecting the severity of his actions and the irreversible harm they caused.

On the morning of February 5, 2025, while on probation in Marion County for Aggravated Battery, Pettis stole a gray Honda Civic in Indianapolis and drove west on U.S. 40 toward Hendricks County. When Officer Roach of the Avon Indiana Police Department attempted a lawful traffic stop after confirming the vehicle was stolen, Pettis deliberately chose to flee.

As Pettis accelerated westbound on U.S. 40, he entered the intersection of Ronald Reagan Parkway at extreme speeds, ran a red light, and slammed into a Ford Explorer occupied by a family. The impact sent the Explorer airborne and immediately engulfed it in flames. Inside the burning vehicle were two young children. One infant, Iris, was pronounced dead at the scene. Three-year-old Ares suffered catastrophic burns and was transported to Riley Children’s Hospital, where he later died from those injuries. “This crime was completely foreseeable. Two young children are dead because the defendant didn’t want to be held accountable for stealing car. Now he has the rest of his life in prison to think about the lives he took and those he affected” stated Loren Delp Hendricks County Prosecutor.

The children’s father and responding police officers sustained serious bodily injury while attempting rescue efforts. A civilian bystander, J.W., was also injured while pulling a child from the burning wreckage and attempting to cut away a melted car seat to extricate Ares. Crash data revealed Pettis was traveling nearly 90 miles per hour at the time of impact and never applied his brakes. Pettis later admitted he knew police were attempting to stop him, chose to flee, and had smoked ma*****na shortly before the pursuit. This case has caused immeasurable harm on the family, first responders and assisting citizens. We especially want to thank Avon Police Department, Plainfield Police Department and Plainfield Fire Territory for their investigation.

”The crimes committed by the defendant are unspeakable. Two innocent children lost their lives because of violent choices and utterly indifferent to human life. There is no sentence that can restore what was taken from these families, but there is an obligation—on behalf of this community—to hold the offender fully accountable. We will pursue justice with the seriousness this tragedy demands, and we will never lose sight of the fact that this case is about two young lives that should still be here today”, Prosecutor Loren Delp.

~WE DID IT~

I’m humbled and grateful to share that I will be the Hendricks County Republican nominee for Prosecutor of the 55th Judicial Circuit – Hendricks County.

I am deeply thankful for the incredible support shown over the past months. I am especially grateful to my loving wife Angela Delp and family, who patiently put up with late-night meetings, early breakfasts, and far too many schedule changes along the way. I could not do this without you.

I am also thankful for the enormous support of elected officials, community leaders, law enforcement officers, and friends who offered their encouragement, confidence, and support. Your belief in this mission of means more than I can adequately express.

Most of all, I am grateful to the people of Hendricks County whom I have the privilege to serve every day. It is truly the honor of my professional life to serve as your Prosecutor—and, Lord willing, I look forward to continuing that service for FOUR MORE YEARS.

Thank you for your trust, your prayers, and your continued support. Now on the November and let’s win this thing!

Today I had the opportunity to speak to the Danville Rotary about what I believe is the #1 criminal justice issue facing Hendricks County right now. I anticipated a few mintues of discussion but a legendary, longtime local attorney spoke up from the audience and said it plainly:

“Out-of-county criminals coming into our community and committing violent crime.”

He cut my presentation time in half because he was absolutely right. The presentation was much shorter after that.

Afterward I shared real examples of serious crimes being committed in Hendricks County by individuals who do not live here—people who come into our communities, victimize our residents, and then return to lives elsewhere. That reality creates an ongoing challenge: how do we effectively deter people who have no ties to Hendricks County, no investment in our neighborhoods, and no concern for the harm they leave behind?

requires confronting hard truths, enforcing the law aggressively, and continuing to look for solutions that keep dangerous offenders from targeting our communities. As your Hendricks County Prosecutor I pledge to do just that because Hendricks County deserves nothing less.
