If you are coming to the library in the next two weeks:

The SWL Parking lot continues to be under construction so the temporary traffic plan will be to use the roadway between SWL and YBW buildings as the temporary entrance and exit to the campus. Due to the narrow entrance EXTRA CAUTION will be required to safely merge on and off Southeast Boundary street. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.

Paving will begin on the SWL Park lot on 8/24/2026 and hopefully we will be able to utilize the normal entrance to campus shortly after paving is complete. Once again your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Book launch and celebration for "The Whole Country was. . . ‘One Robe’": The Little Shell Tribe’s America
On Tuesday, July 21, The Little Shell Tribe and the Montana Historical Society will host a book launch event to celebrate the long-awaited return to print of The Whole Country was. . . ‘One Robe’: The Little Shell Tribe’s America. The event is free and open to the public.
This rare book, authored by the late historian and writer Nicholas C.P. Vrooman, is considered the definitive work on the history of the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa people. The groundbreaking volume sold out rapidly in the United States and Canada after it was published by the Drumlummon Institute in 2012.
Together, the Drumlummon Institute and the Montana Historical Society raised more than $60,000 to reprint the 504-page volume, which features more than 400 historic images. Five hundred copies of the book will be given to the Little Shell Tribe to help the next generation learn their own stories and heritage.
What: Book Launch Celebration for The Whole Country was. . . ‘One Robe’: The Little Shell Tribe’s America
When: Tuesday, July 21, 2026, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Where: Little Shell Ceremonial Center, 1301 Stuckey Road, Great Falls
The Whole Country was. . . ‘One Robe’: The Little Shell Tribe’s America will be available for purchase at the event through Cassiopeia Books.
