Food & Water Action/Food & Water Watch is a nationwide non-profit organization that was founded in 2005 to preserve our food and water quality and has over two million members. We are currently hiring canvass staff to do so in Nassau County by endorsing Kamala Harris and Laura Gillen for congress! We will be working exclusively in Nassau County’s Congressional District 4. It is a great opportunity for students to earn good money, $25/HR FT and PT available Saturday - Sunday, and build their resumes, while taking part in the democratic process, and making a positive impact on their community all at the same time.

This campaign has a special focus on environmental issues like climate change and water quality, as well as consumer justice issues, and a woman’s right to choose. We will be turning out Nassau residents who care about these issues to vote early, or on Election Day November 5th, when the campaign and position close.

I’ve attached a job announcement poster to share with all appropriate and interested applicants and groups.

Thank you for your time and consideration, and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions!

Tony Avella, who is running for City Council District 19 here in Northeast Queens (Whitestone, College Point, Bayside, Little Neck, Douglaston, and parts of North Flushing), is looking for student interns to help do outreach and talk to voters. This would include phone banking, fundraising, canvassing, representing the candidate at events and generally talking to the public. This is a great experience for any student who is looking to start their career in politics. It is very short term. They are going to be canvassing everyday until election day November 7th. It is an unpaid opportunity and the campaign would like to start accepting applicants as soon as possible. Letters of recommendation can be written for all students who choose to help the campaign. They would only want 3-15 hours a week. For any questions and potential student applicants can send their resume to Milsa Stein at [email protected], or can reach Milsa at 917-687-3840.

George Maragos’s campaign for Mayor of Glen Cove and the Democratic slate for Glen Cove City Council are seeking students interested in a 6-week fall internship opportunity in politics. The internship begins ASAP, can be remote or in-person, and runs through Election Day on Tuesday, November 7th. Students need no prior experience, just an interest in local politics and an enthusiastic attitude. Applicants of all years, as well as recent graduates, may apply.

The primary responsibilities of students interning with the campaign will be to communicate with prospective voters to raise voter turnout. Interns will also be responsible for executing tasks specific to their experience and personal preferences, including assisting with political communications, digital design, social media, fundraising, and community outreach.

As part of the internship program, campaign staff, all of whom have advanced degrees and professional experience in government and politics, will also offer educational training sessions and resources to help inform interns about politics and government. These include but are not limited to sessions on creating public policy, effective political and policy writing, crafting persuasive messaging, digital design, electoral campaign strategy, and more. Students who participate will also gain hands-on experience in some or all of these areas.
