⚖️ LAW & ORDER: EXPLORER EDITION ⚖️

“In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups…” 🚔⚖️

Our Brookville Police Explorers recently visited the Nassau County Courthouse to get a firsthand look at the other side of the criminal justice system and learn more about the important work of the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office.

The visit gave our Explorers an opportunity to see how prosecutors work with law enforcement, prepare cases, present evidence, and help ensure that justice is served.

And we learned something important along the way: not every Police Explorer wants to become a police officer… apparently, some of them want to be the ones telling us whether we have enough probable cause! 😂⚖️

Experiences like this are what the Explorer Program is all about—introducing young people to the many different careers within the criminal justice system and giving them an opportunity to learn directly from the professionals who do the job every day.

🇺🇸 BROOKVILLE POLICE EXPLORERS VISIT THE 9/11 MEMORIAL & MUSEUM 🇺🇸

Brookville Police Officers and Explorer Coordinators Ian Roth, Shayna Robinson, and Mark Forland recently accompanied members of the Brookville Police Explorers, along with several Explorer parents, on a meaningful trip to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York City.

The group traveled into Manhattan by the Long Island Rail Road and New York City subway, giving our Explorers the opportunity to experience public transportation while visiting one of our nation’s most important historic sites.

At the Memorial and Museum, the Explorers learned about the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the thousands of innocent lives lost, and the extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and heroism demonstrated by police officers, firefighters, first responders, and ordinary citizens on that day and in the days that followed.

For our young Explorers—many of whom were born years after September 11—visiting this sacred place provides an important connection to history and to the values of service, courage, sacrifice, and remembrance that are at the heart of public service.

We thank Officers Roth, Robinson, and Forland, our Explorer parents, and everyone who helped make this educational experience possible.

We will never forget.

Today, we proudly celebrate 250 years of American independence, honoring the courage, sacrifice, and enduring spirit that have defined our nation since 1776.

From all of us at the Brookville Police Department, we wish our residents, visitors, and neighboring communities a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July.

As you celebrate:
🇺🇸 Never drink and drive. Use Uber, Lyft, a taxi, or choose a designated driver.
🎆 Leave fireworks to the professionals. Fireworks are illegal in New York State unless specifically permitted by law. Enjoy one of the many professional fireworks displays in our area instead of using consumer fireworks at home.
🚔 If you’re celebrating, make safety your top priority—for yourself, your family, and your neighbors.

🚨 Brookville Police Seeking Public’s Assistance 🚨

On June 20, 2026, the Brookville Police Department was notified by Glen Cove Hospital staff of a stabbing victim receiving treatment for injuries sustained during an incident that occurred the previous evening at the North Shore Equestrian Center on the LIU Post campus.

The investigation determined that an altercation occurred between two roommates who were both employed at the facility. The victim sustained a stab wound to the clavicle area and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are seeking Eddy Javier Villalobos Novoa, 44, of Brookville, who is expected to be charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Assault.
