HCFR was honored to participate in the Freedom Run hosted by the YMCA on Saturday 9/5/26 in remembrance of the tragic attacks on 9/11/2001. This year is the 25th anniversary of the attacks, lets us never forget the civilians, first responder and military service members who lost their lives on that day and the years that followed. 🇺🇸

Just after 6:30p on Saturday 9/5/26, HCFR responded to a vehicle crash with entrapment at the intersection of Cortez Blvd and Kettering Rd. Units arrived to find an SUV stuck under the trailer of a gasoline truck. The sole occupant of the SUV was extricated and transported to an area hospital where they died from injuries sustained in the crash. No other injuries were reported.

HCFR is on scene of a vehicle crash with entrapment at the intersection of Cortez Blvd and Kettering Rd. All EB lanes of Cortez Blvd are shut down as well as Kettering Rd at this intersection. Expected extended lane closures until the crash is cleared. No HCFR vehicles are involved in this crash.

On Saturday afternoon 9/5/26 around 4:30pm, a Hernando County Fire Rescue unit was involved in a vehicle crash at the intersection of Cortez Blvd and Barclay Ave. Rescue 11 was responding lights and sirens to a cardiac arrest call when the crash occurred. A total of 4 people were transported to the hospital including both HCFR personnel from Rescue 11, all reported to have non-life threatening injuries. The crash is under investigation by FHP.

🚒 Texas Deployment Update 🔥

HCFR firefighters are now 1 week into their deployment to Palo Pinto, Texas as part of a Florida brush truck strike team working the Ross Wildfire. Working along side local, state and other regionally deployed teams, they continue to hit hot spots and monitor containment lines while ensuring the protection of homes and valuable cattle property. The strike team still has 1 week left on their deployment before making the 2 day trip home. Keep up the great work! 💪🏼🇺🇸

Just after 9pm Friday 9/4/26, HCFR responded to a vehicle crash with entrapment at the intersection of Mariner Blvd and Linden Dr in Spring Hill. One occupant required the Jaws of Life to free them from the vehicle. A total of 2 patients were transported to area hospitals.
