The road construction in Brooks will start reclamation on June 3rd, they will start on the west end of MN Ave. Underground work will start June 8th.

The Brooks City Council met in regular session on May 6, 2026 at 7:00pm, at the Brooks City Council meeting room. The Pledge of Allegiance was said. Mayor Kolling called the meeting to order. Members present: Kolling, Morinville, Determan, Paradis, Vasend, and Clerk Morinville. Absent: none. Also present: Red Lake County Engineer, Taylor Amiot.

Paradis made the motion to approve the agenda, Vasend seconded, motion carried.

The minutes for April 6, 2026 were not read due to being sent out prior to the meeting for review, Determan made the motion to approve the minutes, Paradis seconded, carried.

Red Lake County Engineer, Taylor Amiot informed the board that Davidson Construction was the lowest bidder; project should start probably middle of May. Determan made the motion, Morinville seconded, for the City Obligation Alt. 1 minus the milling. Motion carried.

Paradis made the motion to pay all bills as presented from the general checking, Vasend seconded, carried.

Old Business: Christmas lights-replacement of them - leave on the agenda
Electric plugins for Christmas lights on the street light poles-tabled. Champagne Cottage – leave on agenda
LGA for 2026 will be $30,767 which is $800 less than 2025
Large item pickup is May 16, 2026

New Business: Mentor Gaming report was gone over.
Sanitary Garbage, fuel surcharge of $1.10/month/account starting April
Lawnmower – trade-in current mower in the works

Vasend made the motion to adjourn, Morinville seconded. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:45pm.

The Brooks City Council met in regular session on April 6, 2026 at 7:00pm, at the Brooks City Council meeting room. The Pledge of Allegiance was said. Mayor Kolling called the meeting to order. Members present: Kolling, Morinville, Determan, Paradis, Vasend, and Clerk Morinville. Absent: none. Also present: Sheriff Mitch Bernstein and Red Lake County Engineer Taylor Amiot.
Sheriff Mitch Bernstein reported that it has been quiet in Brooks. On Thursday, April 16th is “Weather Warning”, the sirens will be going off at 1:45 & 6:45pm. Sheriff Bernstein will be officially retiring on January 5, 2027.
The resolution on parallel parking only was sent over by Erick Hove, Houston Engineering, and Determan made the motion to adopt the resolution, Vasend seconded, carried. RL Co. Engineer, Taylor Amiot, went over the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the upcoming project, Morinville made the motion to adopt, Paradis seconded, carried. Bids are opening April 28th, project should start probably middle of May.
Determan made the motion to approve the agenda, Vasend seconded, motion carried.

Lawnmower was discussed, it was purchased 3 years ago, Paradis will

The Brooks City Council met in regular session on February 2, 2026 at 7:00pm, at the Brooks City Council meeting room. The Pledge of Allegiance was said. Mayor Kolling called the meeting to order. Members present: Kolling, Morinville, Determan, Vasend, and Clerk Morinville. Absent: Paradis. Also present: Eric Colby-Houston Engineering & Taylor Amiot-Red Lake County Engineer.
Taylor and Eric are hoping this spring to start the road project in Brooks, bid opening will be in April. They went over the project/plans with the council. Determan made the motion for the approval of the Right of Entry permit, Vasend seconded. Motion carried.

Morinville made the motion to approve the agenda, Determan seconded, motion carried.

The minutes for January 5, 2026 were not read due to being sent out prior to the meeting for review, Determan made the motion to approve the minutes, Vasend seconded, carried.
Morinville made the motion to pay all bills as presented from the general checking, Vasend seconded, carried.

DHB 9mth CD is maturing, Determan made the motion, Vasend seconded
to close out and put into a 18mth CD at 4.04%, for the full amount,
currently at $53,611.09
Caleb Briard contacted the council about a driveway approach, after
discussion it was approved.

Vasend made the motion to adjourn, Determan seconded. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 9:03pm.
